The Position:
The Associate Director of Business Development and Corporate Strategy will be a core part of the team responsible for strengthening our business through helping establish new partnerships and helping develop the strategy for FL85. This role will report to the Head of Corporate Development and will be critical in accelerating FL85’s growth and strategic ambitions. This individual should have a passion for working at the intersection of science and business and have an entrepreneurial mindset who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic, and deadline driven environment. This individual should have a can-do attitude, be open to change and be excited about both the business development and the corporate strategy responsibilities of this role.
Key responsibilities:
- Actively participate in the establishment of an effective and efficient business development effort/team
- Support end-to-end deal activities including campaign design, outreach, tracking, deal structure design, term sheet assessment, research planning, negotiations
- Structure, negotiate and close licensing transactions with existing and new partners
- Prepare opportunity assessments with scientific/portfolio rationale, partnership framework and financial assessment, analysis of competitive landscape and comparable deal terms
- Core part of team to establish, evolve and execute the FL85 strategy
- Shape our corporate priorities; drive clarity and alignment on “where we play” (e.g., platform capabilities) and “how we win”
- Provide internal consulting support for high-priority strategic initiatives that are critical for FL85
- Partner with and advise senior leadership on topics relevant to their own functional areas
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of two to three years of experience in a business development and / or strategic consulting function, with specific biopharmaceutical experience
- Understanding of biopharmaceutical R&D, the drug development process, and the role and processes of business development
- Knowledgeable about trends and technologies in biopharmaceutical R&D and partnering
- Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills and are comfortable working independently
- Clear communicator in writing and speech and creative in terms of visual presentation of trends and data
- Comfort in the start-up environment, passion for understanding emerging data and navigating ambiguity in a dynamic environment
