Requirements
  • Four years of experience in the heavy industrial industry.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code and basic safety practices.
  • Ability to pass the drug test required by Saulsbury Industries and the Department of Transportation anti-drug program.
  • Must attend and successfully complete Saulsbury Industries safety training.
  • Must take necessary safety precautions when performing the work.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, work at heights above 20 feet including aerial lifts, climb 30-foot ladders without resting, maintain balance on catwalks and narrow workspaces, stand for long periods, and reach above the head and below the knees, stoop, and kneel.
  • Must be able to work overtime each week and in awkward or confined workspaces, at heights, outdoors, in noisy or dirty environments, with air contaminants such as dust and fumes, and near or below freezing temperatures.
Responsibilities
  • Install, service, and maintain electrical systems, including power distribution substations, computer and coaxial communication circuits, fiber-optic systems, instrumentation systems, fire alarm circuits, and lighting circuits.
  • Determine methods and materials needed to complete assigned maintenance, repair, or construction work.
  • Perform lockout/tagout procedures to secure switchgear and deactivate equipment, and verify proper lockout at the local switch point.
  • Dismantle equipment or devices to access and remove defective parts or components.
  • Troubleshoot, inspect, and maintain equipment; make emergency electrical repairs and address malfunctions and breakdowns.
  • Inspect work in progress and completed work for defects, fire hazards, and other unsafe conditions.
  • Use electrical test equipment, including ammeters, voltmeters, and ohmmeters.
  • Work with conduits, fittings, cables, insulators, and other electrical equipment.
  • Read and work from electrical schematics, plans, and specifications in accordance with established procedures.
  • Remove and replace operating equipment; terminate control and power cables; and install conduit.
  • Move materials, tools, and equipment manually and use hand and power tools.
  • Complete work-area cleanup and safety-related duties, and document repair and maintenance activities in paperwork.
  • Coordinate with operations personnel and communicate with relevant personnel to initiate maintenance and coordinate permits and clearances.
  • Promote awareness of environmental, health, and safety policies and comply with applicable safety procedures, including working in operating facilities.
  • Attend safety meetings and specialty training as directed by management.
  • Give suitable assignments to helpers, provide basic instruction to supervised employees, and perform other related duties as assigned.
