About the job

Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to work proactively and anticipate needs; the role is not suited to someone who prefers to be told exactly what to do each day.
  • Experience operating as a strategic partner to a senior leader, combining big-picture anticipation with hands-on logistics.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and follow-through, including managing a fast-moving, high-stakes calendar without dropping details.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the presence and polish to represent the CEO credibly to Board members, senior leaders, families, and external partners.
  • Unwavering discretion with confidential and sensitive information.
  • A collaborative working style and confidence to make judgment calls and push back thoughtfully when needed; should not be a passive order-taker or regard operational work as beneath them.
  • Comfort holding ambiguity and building structure in a fast-paced, evolving role.
  • Experience working across multiple functional areas and diverse stakeholder relationships, navigating different audiences, priorities, and working styles.
  • Strong technical fluency, particularly with Google Suite and artificial intelligence tools, using technology to work faster and smarter.
  • Business acumen, including a working understanding of core enterprise metrics and drivers and judgment to translate that understanding into informed recommendations for the CEO's priorities and decisions.
  • Demonstrated success operating in high-volume, high-urgency environments without losing accuracy, composure, or judgment.
  • Actively seeks feedback on their work and performance and visibly uses it to grow.
  • Must demonstrate identity and eligibility to work in the United States; the employer uses E-Verify for new hires.
Responsibilities
  • Own and proactively manage the CEO's calendar, anticipating conflicts, protecting time for priorities, and building the week around what matters most.
  • Coordinate travel, direct-report check-ins, and external meetings with attention to the CEO's energy and focus.
  • Help the CEO remain accessible while thoughtfully managing requests for her time and redirecting requests that are better handled elsewhere.
  • Build agendas and prepare the CEO for standing meetings, one-on-ones, and Cabinet check-ins, anticipating what needs to be covered.
  • Facilitate executive meetings by managing time, keeping discussions on track, and driving follow-up on action items.
  • Anticipate upcoming decisions, deadlines, and moments requiring the CEO's attention.
  • Assist with presentations, briefings, and reports for key engagements, including stakeholder updates and strategic planning sessions.
  • Represent the CEO professionally and warmly in day-to-day correspondence and scheduling communications with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build systems, track details, and manage operational and logistical work supporting the CEO.
  • Continuously optimize processes and systems within the Office of the CEO to improve productivity and reduce friction in the CEO's operations.
  • Manage ad hoc requests and shifting priorities, distinguishing urgent matters from those that can wait and solving problems before they reach the CEO.
  • Support the CEO's sustainable pace by incorporating balance and resilience into how her calendar and week are constructed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience supporting a CEO, executive director, or senior nonprofit or education leader.
  • Experience supporting or preparing materials for a Board of Directors or governance function.
  • Experience in a charter school network, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization.
