ReadMe is hiring a Git Infrastructure Engineer. Over the past year, weâve moved our content data off Mongo and into a Git storage system (lovingly called Gitto internally). Now we need someone to own and continue to build out the infrastructure! Itâs built on EFS, with a network of VMs that can access it. If you want to learn more⌠well, we basically did the same thing Github did.
Weâre a small team of humans (and one owl) working together to do big things â and thatâs where you come in. In this role, youâll have a transformational impact on ReadMe across both the trajectory of the business and our thriving culture.
đŚ What we do
ReadMe helps more than 5,000 leading startups and tech companies build beautiful, personalized, and interactive developer hubs. If youâve ever visited the developer docs for Webflow, Notion, or Nvidia, youâve used ReadMe!
We love what we do because itâs so much more than just documentation. Weâre providing tools for teams to build a better developer experience and make their products and APIs easier to use. Weâve got great support from our investors at Accel who led our Series A, and our interview process reflects the open, caring, and whimsical culture we want to maintain as we scale.
â
What youâll do here
Own the architecture of our new Git infrastructure. Examples of problems youâll help to solve:
Create backups (per repo and larger).
Improve deployment of the codebase.
Unblock scaling issues as they come up.
Care about security and SOC2 compliance.
Come up with ideas around what ReadMeâs broader infrastructure should look like, and communicate them to your coworkers.
Collaborate with other engineers and people around ReadMe. Youâll be fairly autonomous in this role, but you wonât be on an island! Youâll support and be supported by your coworkers.
đ Youâll love this job if you are...
Excited to build a Git-backed storage system!
Familiar with Typescript, since Gitto is built with JS.
Experienced with AWS (EC2 / EFS / Load Balancing at the very least) and feel comfortable building out infrastructure on top of them.
Knowledgeable about Terraform.
Passionate about making products people love.

đŁď¸ Whatâs the hiring process like?
We canât wait to read your resume and (hopefully personality-filled) cover letter! Let us know what excites you about full-stack engineering, and help us get to know you better!
If we think we might be a good fit for you, weâll set up a 30-minute phone chat with our VP of Engineering, Laura! Sheâll tell you more about the role, and get a chance to hear about your experiences.
Next will be a second 30-minute phone interview with another engineer on the team, where weâll dive a bit more into your background.
Weâll then do a technical assessment with a couple of ReadMe engineers.
Finally, weâll invite you to an "onsite" interview conducted over Zoom! These usually take 3.5 to 5 hours including an hour break in between. We can be flexible with the schedule and split it up over two days if that works best for you! We start with a 15-minute get-to-know-you with the people youâll be interviewing with, and then have you talk with people one-on-one later on.
Weâll let you know how things went within a week! If it still seems like a good fit all around, weâll extend you an offer! If not, we will update you to let you know so you arenât left hanging.
