Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and completion of a Medical Assisting Program are required.
  • The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position and meet its attendance requirements.
  • The employee must not pose a threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
  • The employee must be able to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted.
  • The employee must deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the physician with physical examinations and carry out nursing treatments and procedures according to documented physician orders.
  • Take patient histories, vital signs, symptoms, and conditions and document them in the medical record.
  • Administer patient immunizations according to clinical protocols and provider instructions.
  • Administer medications and treatments ordered by the provider.
  • Check treatment rooms for properly functioning equipment and stock supplies.
  • Perform daily laboratory quality checks and document them in log books.
  • Process specimens, document related results, and notify the provider of abnormal results.
  • Clean and disinfect the laboratory and equipment daily according to infection control guidelines.
  • Submit quality-control and patient-testing logs monthly.
  • Travel to other Centro Del Barrio sites to carry out assigned duties.
  • Assist the provider with specialized examinations and treatments or procedures as directed.
  • Maintain supply-room inventory and assist the Licensed Vocational Nurse Supervisor with other duties.
  • Perform venipuncture as ordered by the provider.
  • Follow infection-control policies and procedures in the Centro del Barrio Infection Control Manual.
  • Follow hazardous-materials policies and procedures in the Employee Safety Manual.
  • Follow all safety policies in the Employee Safety Manual.
  • Demonstrate competence with all patients.
  • Participate in the agency’s Quality Improvement Program.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
