Requirements
  • A current Oregon Certified Nursing Assistant certification is required upon hire.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support certification is preferred upon hire and required within 90 days of hire; if not certified by the American Heart Association upon hire, current Basic Life Support certification through another provider is required.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology, healthcare procedures, HIPAA regulations, and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of basic office equipment and software, including Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling software.
  • Skill in effective verbal and written communication, active listening, and interpersonal interactions.
  • Skill in time management, prioritization, attention to detail, and multitasking.
  • Skill in customer service, patience, empathy, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with patients, providers, staff, and management.
  • Ability to provide knowledgeable, skillful, and consistent care to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision and function effectively in stressful situations.
  • Ability to collaborate with healthcare team members, adjust to changing priorities and work demands, and request assistance or clarification when needed.
  • Ability to develop skills in using a computerized hospital information and ordering system.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with patient nursing care, including collecting vital signs and specimens; measuring intake and output; performing non-sterile treatments; assisting with activities of daily living; supporting patients’ comfort and emotional needs; monitoring and reporting changes in patient condition or behavior to licensed nursing staff; and assisting with emergency efforts as directed.
  • Carry out orders and treatments as directed by the registered nurse. Perform expanded tasks only after appropriate training and competency validation and as allowed by Oregon Administrative Rules and facility policy.
  • Assist patients with ambulation, lifting, and transfers between stretchers, beds, and wheelchairs, using proper body mechanics and equipment.
  • Help maintain a clean and organized patient environment, including room turnover and restocking supplies.
  • Assist with patient admission or discharge as needed and accurately document care provided and patient observations in the medical record.
  • Support and represent the medical center’s mission, vision, and values in daily work.
Desired Qualifications
  • Six months of experience in a skilled nursing facility or hospital.
