Hut 8 breaks ground on $10B Louisiana data centre as shares slide 15% in a month

Hut 8 has broken ground on its planned $10 billion River Bend data centre in Louisiana. Governor Jeff Landry and Donald Trump Jr. attended the event. The stock has cooled in the short term, down 9.3% over the past week and 15.2% over the past month. It is still up 63.1% year to date and 67.4% over the past year. The most followed valuation narrative puts fair value at $157.09, against a last close of $83.61, which would make the shares 47% undervalued. It rests on a power-first strategy, with 10.8 GW of pipeline under diligence and 3.1 GW under exclusivity. Another measure is less generous. Hut 8 trades at 32.4 times sales, against a fair ratio of 13.5.

Hut 8 acquires bankrupt Poolin's Texas data centres for $140M

Hut 8 has acquired bankrupt crypto miner Poolin's two Texas data centre facilities for $140 million, according to court filings. The winning bid secures the "Pyote" and "Tarbush" sites, adding to Hut 8's existing Beacon Point campus in Texas. Hut 8's offer was nearly triple the $52 million opening bid, beating out competing offers that reached $137 million. Poolin filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in July after winding down its Texas crypto mining operations. The acquisition expands Hut 8's data centre portfolio as the former Bitcoin miner pivots to data centre operations. The company now has 949 MW of contracted artificial intelligence infrastructure capacity, representing an estimated $26.6 billion in expected contract value. Hut 8 stock has risen 170% over the past 12 months.

Hut 8 stock jumps 5% as Nvidia backs $35B Anthropic-Lambda cloud deal

Hut 8 Corp. shares jumped nearly 5% in overnight trading Monday after reports emerged that the company will develop a data center as part of a $35 billion cloud-computing deal between Anthropic and Nvidia Corp. According to The Wall Street Journal, Hut 8 will develop the data center in Nueces County, Texas. The company signed an agreement with Nvidia weeks ago to secure capacity. Lambda will use Hut's data center to plug in chips bought from Nvidia, whilst Nvidia will hold the lease. The deal adds to Hut 8's growing portfolio. The company is already developing data centers for Anthropic to use Google's tensor processing units, backed by financial guarantees from Google. In July, Hut 8 announced 15-year leases for its entire 700-megawatt Texas campus to an unnamed company.
