Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • One to three years of experience in the human services field is required.
  • A valid United States driver's license is required, with at least six months to one year of maintained validity stated in the posting, along with an acceptable driving record and insurance when using a personal vehicle.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Applicants must obtain CPR and First Aid certification within two weeks of employment.
  • Applicants must successfully pass CORI, reference, multistate background, and driving record checks.
  • Strong time management, writing, organizational, interpersonal, judgment, coaching, mentoring, participatory, collaborative, teaching, assessment, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Knowledge of Clubhouse standards and practices; Psychiatric Rehabilitation principles, values, and practices; formal and informal assessment practices; documentation standards; learning and communication styles; empowerment, self-advocacy, and peer support techniques; community resources, jobs, and educational opportunities; confidentiality; personal computer applications and equipment; reasonable accommodation law; advocacy techniques; and crisis intervention techniques is required.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, provide a positive role model, work professionally and confidentially, assist clients with activities of daily living, and perform the physical duties of the position is required.
  • Crisis Intervention/Staff Safety and Infectious Diseases training must be completed within six months of employment.
  • Driving is required using either a Vinfen van or a personal vehicle; personal vehicles must have adequate insurance and a safe driving record.
  • The position requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, lift at least 25 pounds or use a two-person lift, operate office equipment, maneuver through narrow spaces, and assist with routine living activities such as cleaning, meal preparation, vacuuming, shoveling, and grocery shopping.
Responsibilities
  • Function as an advisor for Clubhouse members and assess, develop, and implement Action Plans with members in their chosen work areas.
  • Promote a supportive and empowering services environment in which members advocate for themselves, make choices, take appropriate risks, and assume additional responsibilities.
  • Communicate and reinforce the Clubhouse culture and philosophy with members, providers, community resources, and employer partners.
  • Develop, implement, and support Clubhouse policies and procedures in partnership with members and staff.
  • Assist members in connecting with community services and resources.
  • Provide support across all Clubhouse work areas by teaching, coaching, facilitating, modeling, and reinforcing skill development.
  • Provide meaningful work opportunities, encourage member participation, and plan, implement, and evaluate work-area services when needed.
  • Maintain program records in accordance with Massachusetts Department of Mental Health Clubhouse documentation standards.
  • Support members in documenting progress on their Action Plans when they choose to do so.
  • Attend relevant trainings, conferences, staff meetings, supervision, and professional development activities.
  • Assist with orienting new staff and members and maintain ongoing communication with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Help maintain the physical site and provide general upkeep and maintenance of the Clubhouse.
  • Plan and participate in Clubhouse events.
  • Follow all Clubhouse, divisional, and company policies and procedures.
  • Provide coverage and assistance for Clubhouse work units and on-site or off-site program activities as needed.
  • Provide occasional weekend, evening, and holiday coverage.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, rehabilitation counseling, special education, or a related field is preferred.
  • Advanced training, experience, or professional credentials are preferred for higher-level Clubhouse Counselor positions.
