Requirements
  • Successful completion of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology and certification as a Registered Radiologic Technologist in Radiography RT(R) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS).
  • For Radiologic Technologists, maintain current Radiologic Technologist licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • For non-Radiologic Technologists, maintain current registration with Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
  • Maintain Basic Life Support certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID-19, or obtain an approved medical or personal exemption by signing the required statement.
Responsibilities
  • Perform diversified clinical patient care, technical, and related duties within the cardiac catheterization laboratory or structural heart service as part of an interdisciplinary care team.
  • Assume responsibility for assigned patients, perform patient assessments, and correlate clinical findings with exam or procedure requests.
  • Obtain pertinent hemodynamic and angiographic information from the patient's chart and document all data in the hemodynamic system and electronic health record.
  • Provide patient education related to procedures.
  • Position patients and select appropriate imaging equipment and supplies.
  • Identify, prepare, and administer pharmaceuticals related to examinations or procedures within the scope of practice.
  • Select technical factors, parameters, and sequences to produce quality images; identify anatomy; and evaluate images for technical quality within the scope of practice.
  • Apply the ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure to patients, oneself, and others.
  • Assist interventional or invasive cardiologists in performing cardiac catheterization or structural heart procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year's experience as a Scrub Assistant in a cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology lab, Structural Heart, or interventional radiology setting is preferred.
  • Post-primary certification in Cardiac or Vascular Interventional Radiography is preferred for Radiologic Technologists.
  • Post-primary certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Cardiac or Interventional Radiography RT(CV) or RT(VI) is preferred.
