Responsibilities
Plan and implement creative and varied programs that meet participants’ needs, interests, and abilities.
Ensure the safety and supervision of participants on and off site.
Implement and participate in program activities.
Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times.
Desired Qualifications
Experience working with children in a recreational setting is ideal.
Additional certifications are an asset, including NCCP, CanFitPro, Food Handler Certification, RYT-200 (Yoga), and Zumba Instructor Certification (ZIN).
Qualifications in post-secondary education, or working toward completion of a degree, diploma, or certificate in a related field, are an asset. Listed fields include Early Childhood Education, Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Education, Adult Education, Child and Youth Work, Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Photography, Kinesiology, Fitness and Health Promotion, and Applied Behavior Analysis.

This position is required to work in person at various locations throughout Burlington. Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands.
Position Overview
The City of Burlington is accepting applications for program staff to work Fall, Winter and Spring programs with the following participant groups:
Pre-School – ages 0-5 years
Children and Youth – ages 5-18 years
Youth Drop-in Programming – ages 12-18 years
Program Areas include:
Sports & Fitness
Creative Arts
STEM
Life Skills
Available positions include:
Program Leader/Instructor, RCC - $23.31 - $29.14 (Grade C)
Assistant Programs, RCC - $18.21 - $22.77 (Grade A)
Specialized Program Instructor - $26.31 - $32.89 (Grade D)
Community programs in the above areas are provided at various times and locations throughout Burlington. Program staff report to the Recreation Programmer/ Recreation Coordinator and typically work 1 to 3 shifts per week per program. Hours of work will vary with position title and will vary dependent on program need. These positions will work up to 10 months between September and June.
Responsibilities
Program Staff are responsible for planning and implementing creative and varied programs to meet the needs, interests and abilities of all participants. Successful applicants will be responsible for the safety and supervision of participants both on and offsite and are expected to implement and participate in activities. All staff must adhere to all health and safety regulations at all times.
Requirements
Successful candidates must have the following qualifications or be in the process of obtaining, at your own expense:
Standard First Aid and CPR level C certification
Behavior Management Systems Training (available through the City of Burlington)
HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child Development
