Requirements
  • Completed high school.
  • A minimum of one year of prior related experience working in community-based programs is an asset.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office products and working knowledge and experience with email and internet-based programs.
  • Good organization, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision while accepting direction when necessary.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to comply with occupational health and safety legislation and The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to complete applicable screening and background checks, including providing an original copy of a background check.
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding of and support for The Salvation Army's mission and purpose in Canada and its implications for the role.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms) safely.
  • Flexibility to work days, afternoons, and evening shifts Monday through Saturday, according to the schedule set by the supervisor.
Responsibilities
  • Recruit volunteers by telephone.
  • Answer calls and respond to volunteer inquiries as required.
  • Enter volunteer scheduling data into the computerized kettle program.
  • Make shift reminder phone calls or leave voicemail messages for volunteers.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
  • Perform responsibilities in keeping with The Salvation Army's mission, vision, values, and code of conduct.
  • Treat The Salvation Army's property with due care and caution.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of prior related experience working in community-based programs is considered a definite asset.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined.
  • Participate as an active and responsible team member.
  • Ability to represent the organization in a professional and engaging manner.
