Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certification and one year of experience processing legal documents in a law enforcement, corrections, probation, or legal setting, or one year of experience with Pima County in a Records Technician, Public Safety Specialist, Public Safety Transcription Technician, or similar-level position.
  • Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.
  • A valid driver license is required at the time of application, and a valid Arizona driver license is required at the time of appointment.
  • A level A certification issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety is required.
  • Access certification for assigned criminal history databases and communications systems, such as the National Crime Information Center, Arizona Crime Information Center, and Spillman Database, must be attained before completion of probation and maintained as a condition of employment.
  • Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment background investigation, including verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history, is required.
  • Pre- and post-employment drug screening and polygraph examinations are required.
  • A post-offer physical examination and/or drug screen is required.
Responsibilities
  • Create, query, and scan national, state, and local computer databases and manual systems to retrieve and verify information such as warrants, missing persons, and stolen property.
  • Input, research, and retrieve data for case enrichment of crime reports and develop and identify suspects for investigative officer follow-up.
  • Validate and research felony, misdemeanor, and civil warrants and coordinate with law enforcement personnel and courts for processing, entry, and clearing from computer systems.
  • Enter and verify certified complaint dismissals and satisfied, canceled, or served information for fugitive warrants received from law enforcement agencies, jails, and courts.
  • Coordinate the extradition of fugitives wanted in Pima County by acting as a liaison between law enforcement agencies, the Pima County Attorney, the Arizona State Attorney General, and the Governor’s Office.
  • Inform victims and law enforcement agencies of arrests by teletype, telephone, or mail, and document notifications in compliance with the Victim’s Bill of Rights, the Arizona Constitution, and applicable Arizona Revised Statutes.
  • Conduct periodic audits of active computerized records for accuracy and consistency as required by the state and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of materials and information encountered in the course of duty.
  • Testify in court in an official capacity as a departmental employee when required.
