Requirements
  • Six months of nursing experience is required, unless the candidate is currently participating in UW Health’s Nurse Residency Program and has successfully completed the Nurse Residency Orientation on a unit or similar unit.
  • The candidate must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in Wisconsin or hold a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact upon hire.
  • The candidate must hold current CPR/Basic Life Support certification upon hire.
  • The candidate must obtain Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification within six months.
Responsibilities
  • Float across multiple departments and specialties, caring for complex and dynamic patient populations in medical and surgical general care units and intermediate care units.
  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based care by evaluating and assessing patients, recognizing and escalating complications, administering appropriate nursing interventions, and demonstrating patient- and family-centered nursing care.
  • Partner with multidisciplinary teams and effectively delegate tasks as needed.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model, with opportunities to precept new nurses and students and participate in strategic planning, quality improvement, and Shared Governance.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • Relevant Registered Nurse experience is preferred.
  • Relevant certification is preferred.
