Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and four years of related experience are required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
  • An understanding of the technology industry and its relationship to higher education is required.
  • Experience with data and reporting, including quantitative and qualitative written reports, is required.
  • Previous experience with academic advisement, particularly in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields, is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Experience with, or the ability to quickly learn, appropriate advisement and registration tools is required.
Responsibilities
  • Track and assist a cohort of associate degree students in Computer Information Systems and Computer Engineering Technology programs.
  • Provide academic and career advisement and registration assistance to overcome impediments to registration and graduation.
  • Work directly with Computer Systems Technology department faculty and students, the College's Professional Development Center, the College's STAR Center, and New York City-based industry partners.
  • Enhance students' job readiness and help ensure they develop the academic and career readiness skills needed for college and workforce success.
  • Provide connections to tutoring and peer mentoring services.
  • Serve as a resource for staff and faculty on student advisement issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous professional experience in a technology field, preferably within or adjacent to City Tech.
