About the job

Requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years of construction or engineering experience supporting Instrumentation and Controls, automation, low voltage, or Life Safety Systems in complex industrial, semiconductor, high technology, advanced manufacturing, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Demonstrated experience leading an area, major work package, or multiple trade teams on a large construction project.
  • Strong working knowledge of programmable logic controllers, direct digital controls, building management systems, supervisory control and data acquisition, low-voltage controls, instrumentation, system interfaces, and controls integration in complex facilities.
  • Working knowledge of fire alarm and life safety system requirements, testing protocols, interface management, and multi-trade coordination.
  • Ability to interpret control schematics, point-to-point diagrams, riser diagrams, device layouts, sequence of operations, piping and instrumentation diagrams, specifications, and construction work packages.
  • Ability to develop and manage look-ahead plans, field priorities, workface readiness, constraint logs, manpower plans, recovery actions, and turnover milestones.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and the interfaces between Instrumentation and Controls, electrical, mechanical, process systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, fire protection, civil/structural/architectural scopes, and commissioning.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve field constructability issues, make timely decisions, and coordinate solutions with design professionals and project stakeholders.
  • Experience with quality assurance and quality control inspections, system walkdowns, punch list management, loop checks, controls validation, functional testing, startup, and system turnover.
  • Proficiency in managing requests for information, submittals, redlines, as-built documentation, inspection records, test packages, and turnover documentation.
  • Ability to use Bluebeam, BIM 360 or Autodesk Construction Cloud, scheduling and look-ahead tools, and Excel-based tracking systems.
Responsibilities
  • Own field execution of all Instrumentation and Controls and Life Safety Systems scopes within the assigned area, including safety, quality, schedule, productivity, constructability, system integration, commissioning readiness, and turnover.
  • Provide area-level leadership for superintendents, assistant superintendents, foremen, inspectors, and trade partners supporting controls, low voltage, fire alarm, life safety, and related system interfaces.
  • Establish clear priorities for the assigned area and lead daily coordination, weekly work planning, short-interval planning, and three-to-six-week look-ahead activities.
  • Coordinate manpower, material availability, equipment access, permits, inspections, installation sequencing, temporary conditions, and workface readiness to maintain uninterrupted field progress.
  • Serve as the primary field authority for Instrumentation and Controls systems, including control panels, programmable logic controllers, direct digital controls, building management systems, supervisory control and data acquisition, low-voltage power, signal wiring, instrumentation, device installation, network and equipment interfaces, and system integration.
  • Lead planning and execution for Life Safety Systems scopes, including fire alarm, smoke control, emergency notification, gas detection interfaces, emergency shutdown interfaces, and associated low-voltage safety infrastructure.
  • Coordinate Instrumentation and Controls and Life Safety Systems work with electrical, mechanical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, process piping, process utilities, fire protection, civil/structural/architectural scopes, tool installation, automation, and commissioning teams to resolve interface conflicts before they affect installation or startup.
  • Review drawings, specifications, control schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams, point-to-point diagrams, risers, device layouts, sequences of operations, submittals, requests for information, and field-change documentation for constructability and scope alignment.
  • Identify scope gaps, design conflicts, access constraints, incomplete prerequisites, and schedule risks, and drive timely resolution with construction management, engineering, general contractors, and trade partners.
  • Verify that field installations comply with approved contract documents, project specifications, quality requirements, redlines, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Partner with quality assurance and quality control teams to develop inspection plans, coordinate hold points, support witness testing, resolve deficiencies, and validate completion records for Instrumentation and Controls and Life Safety Systems.
  • Lead area walkdowns, punch list management, system completion reviews, and commissioning readiness reviews. Confirm that installation, testing, labeling, documentation, access, and safety requirements are complete before turnover.
  • Coordinate loop checks, controls device validation, point verification, functional testing, startup support, and integrated system testing with construction and commissioning teams.
  • Maintain accurate area status reporting, including progress, manpower, constraints, schedule impacts, quality issues, turnover status, and recovery actions.
  • Lead recurring coordination meetings and communicate clear expectations, action owners, due dates, and escalation paths across all responsible parties.
  • Promote a strong field safety culture and ensure work is planned and executed in accordance with project safety requirements, approved methods, and site procedures.
  • Mentor field leaders and support consistent execution practices across the area. Hold contractors and internal team members accountable for commitments, quality, and schedule performance.
  • Escalate unresolved risks and critical decisions to the General Superintendent or Construction Manager with practical mitigation and recovery recommendations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Semiconductor fab, cleanroom, subfab, process utility, central utility plant, or tool-install construction experience is strongly preferred.
  • An associate or bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field is preferred; equivalent field leadership experience will be considered.
  • NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems or another relevant Life Safety qualification is a plus.
  • OSHA 30 certification is preferred.

What believers are saying

  • WWPS has a wider resource network: Cumming's standalone divisions have access to the group's resources and capabilities.
  • WWPS offers selective relocation support: paid assistance is available to outstanding lead-scheduler candidates across listed project locations.
  • Full-time WWPS schedulers receive matched retirement and insurance benefits starting the first day of the month after joining.

What critics are saying

  • WWPS's Vernon coordinators have no hybrid option: local candidates must report onsite every workday.
  • WWPS's Vernon posting leaves benefit timing unclear: it promises immediate coverage and coverage starting the following month.
  • WWPS's data-center projects face uptime constraints: even minor service interruptions create financial losses for its clients.

What makes World Wide Professional Solutions unique

  • WWPS spans both sides of construction contracts: its program managers include former owners, contractors and vendors.
  • WWPS sells project rescue: its managers review troubled projects to turn them around.
  • WWPS works inside operating semiconductor factories: clients require regular upgrades as manufacturing processes change.
