Requirements
  • A Master’s degree in a related field with at least 3–5 years of experience working with marginalized populations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues and concerns relevant to communities across the African diaspora and youth or young adults is required.
  • Knowledge of leading evidence-based learning practices, curriculum development, and program design and evaluation related to student access, persistence and success, student identity development, and student services is required.
  • Experience building collaborative partnerships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community organizations in support of student learning and success is required.
  • Experience supervising professional and/or student staff and fostering a culture of accountability, learning, and belonging is required.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Institute’s lead educator and program strategist.
  • Design, implement, and assess programs, services, and learning experiences that advance student learning, leadership development, wellbeing, belonging, resource navigation, and success through African American and African diasporic perspectives.
  • Develop student learning outcomes, assess program effectiveness, and use evidence and feedback to strengthen the Institute’s educational offerings.
  • Create intentional leadership development pathways and measure student learning.
  • Ensure that signature programs serve as meaningful entry points for engagement, community connection, and success.
  • Cultivate partnerships with academic departments, university offices, student organizations, alumni, and community organizations to expand opportunities for student learning and engagement.
  • Serve as a key representative of the Institute in collaborative initiatives that advance student success and belonging across the university.
  • Lead educational programs and initiatives.
  • Supervise professional and student staff.
  • Advise student organizations.
  • Manage program budgets and operations.
  • Support implementation of the Institute’s strategic priorities.
  • Work frequent evenings and weekends in support of student engagement and Institute programming.
