Requirements
  • One year of accounting-related experience.

  • Must have and maintain a valid California Driver's License, a daily-use personal insured vehicle, and a motor vehicle driving record acceptable to the employer.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain accounts payable, accounts receivable, and subsidiary ledgers; process vendor invoices for payment; compare receiving reports to vendor statements; and provide monthly balance sheets.
  • Review accounting documents for accurate information and calculations, make correcting entries, examine supporting documentation for authorization and compliance, and maintain control and subsidiary accounting records.
  • Prepare journal entries; periodically reconcile general ledgers, journals, subsidiary accounts, and bank statements; and analyze and prepare reports on revenue estimates, expenditures, and fund conditions.
  • Compile and prepare periodic financial statements, supporting schedules, and reports.
  • Maintain and review fixed assets and other special funds and reconcile them to accounting records.
  • Prepare, review, and correct department or program expenditure transfers; verify account numbers and related information; and conduct assigned internal audits.
  • Analyze budget documentation to ensure expenditures are properly charged and do not exceed appropriations.
  • Conduct research and prepare special studies; analyze financial accounting data and make recommendations.
  • Provide technical guidance to Accounting Technicians and other accounting support staff on accounting entries.
  • Work directly with staff from other departments to resolve technical accounting issues and problems.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
