Requirements
  • At least 90 days of related experience, including at least one internship with ECS or another firm.
  • Must be pursuing an Associate, Bachelor's, or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or another degree related to the company's services.
  • Must complete one certification within the 90-day introductory period and all basic certifications within 270 days of employment, including Radiation Safety, Soils I, and Concrete I; additional certifications may be required for Level 2 work.
  • A valid driver's license is required when driving for or on behalf of an ECS subsidiary.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and self-motivated work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
  • Developing knowledge of construction materials testing principles and standards.
  • Basic math and data interpretation skills.
  • Ability to read plans, follow directions, and interpret construction documents.
  • Proficiency with electronic devices and data-entry tools.
  • Ability to work outdoors and lift required equipment.
  • Must be able to lift at least 85 pounds multiple times each day.
  • E-4 is a qualifying U.S. military rank for this position.
Responsibilities
  • Perform construction materials observation and testing in the field with guidance from senior staff.
  • Conduct routine testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials with increasing independence.
  • Document field conditions and testing results in accurate and timely field reports.
  • Assist with preparing, organizing, and maintaining field and laboratory equipment.
  • Perform basic calculations, data reduction, and data-entry tasks.
  • Communicate with contractors, field staff, and project teams about testing activities and site conditions.
  • Notify supervisors about changes in site conditions, testing needs, or potential issues.
  • Assist with laboratory testing, including sample preparation, curing, and testing procedures.
  • Maintain organized and clean field and laboratory work environments.
  • Participate in project-related meetings and coordination activities as requested.
  • Assist with reviewing laboratory results and supporting project documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
