About the Job

Requirements

  • Strong experience with at least one of AWS, Azure, or GCP; multi-cloud expertise is advantageous.
  • Confidence with networking, TLS and public/private certificate management, IAM, and access control; ability to work within client security and compliance constraints and explain these topics to non-experts.
  • Terraform proficiency is required; familiarity with CloudFormation, Pulumi, or Ansible is a bonus.
  • Docker and Kubernetes experience are expected; Helm experience is a plus.
  • Experience building and shipping maintainable tools for others to use; comfort with Python and Bash; treating tests, scanning, and documentation as part of shipping.
  • Understanding of how a workflow engine runs against remote compute, storage, and container runtimes.
  • Ability to lead technical onboarding and pre-sales, elicit requirements, navigate ambiguity, and communicate credibly with scientists and DevOps engineers.
  • Ability to research unfamiliar problems independently and share learning with the team.
  • Ability to work through adversity to find solutions.
  • Ability to bring people together around shared goals and shape a mutually acceptable path forward.
  • Fluency with AI tools and sound judgment in directing them; critically review and adapt AI-generated work and take ownership of its outcomes.
  • Application must include a link to a public code repository and a short narrative explaining what it demonstrates about the applicant's ability, how it shows growth over time, and how AI was used to accelerate work without relinquishing judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead client implementations across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments, from requirements gathering through a working Seqera Platform deployment.
  • Deploy the infrastructure that hosts the Platform and its compute, including networking, DNS, TLS, private certificate authorities, IAM and secrets, container runtimes, and storage required by pipelines.
  • Deliver within client constraints, including situations with limited account access, by guiding client IT through necessary changes while respecting security and compliance requirements.
  • Build repeatable, safe deployment tools with pre-flight checks, clear failure reporting, tests, and documentation that remain useful after handover.
  • Partner with Sales and Scientific Development to shape solutions and run proof-of-concept deployments.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point and turn recurring client problems into lasting fixes with internal teams.
  • Onboard clients to Seqera Platform Cloud and Enterprise and help deploy it within their security and compliance environments.
  • Answer client technical questions, verify uncertain information, and follow up with reliable answers.
  • Work with scientists, bioinformaticians, client engineers, IT teams, and DevOps teams to create robust, production-ready implementations and explain recommendations.

Desired Qualifications

  • Exposure to HPC schedulers such as SLURM or Grid Engine.
  • Experience in life sciences, bioinformatics, or scientific computing.
  • Technical pre-sales experience.
  • Nextflow experience.
  • Startup experience.
  • Expertise across multiple cloud providers.
  • Familiarity with CloudFormation, Pulumi, or Ansible.
  • Helm experience.
