Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in an MS or PhD program in Ergonomics, Human Factors, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Proficient in ergonomic assessment methods: RULA, REBA, NIOSH Lifting Equation, and others.
  • Experienced applying AI tools (vision models, LLMs, automation pipelines) to real project problems — not just theoretical familiarity.
  • Comfortable building and iterating; you don't wait to be told exactly how to do something.
  • Strong communicator who can document and present technical work to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excited about using AI to make safety work faster, smarter, and more scalable.
Responsibilities
  • Design and implement a photo/video-based ergonomic task capture protocol across Antora's Zanker production facility.
  • Build and iterate on an AI agent that analyzes workplace media and auto-generates Task Hazard Analyses (THAs) using Antora's standard THA template.
  • Integrate quantitative ergonomic assessment tools — NIOSH Lifting Equation, RULA, REBA, and others — into the AI pipeline to calculate and embed risk scores in each THA.
  • Apply the developed system to complete THAs for all production stations at Zanker, covering tasks across Manufacturing, Logistics & Inventory, and R&D environments.
  • Review, validate, and refine AI-generated THAs in collaboration with the EHS team.
  • Document the full workflow and deliver a user guide and handoff package so the system can continue to be used after the internship.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with computer vision or pose estimation tools (e.g., OpenPose, MediaPipe).
  • Prior internship or research experience in manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments.
  • Familiarity with task analysis and hazard analysis frameworks.

Antora Energy provides zero-carbon heat and power for heavy industry by storing renewable energy as heat using thermal energy storage with carbon blocks as a thermal battery. Excess solar and wind energy is converted into heat and stored, then delivered on demand as electricity or industrial process heat up to 1500°C. This approach targets industries that require large amounts of heat, offering a practical decarbonization option where traditional batteries can’t reach the necessary temperatures or durations. The goal is to scale affordable renewable energy storage for heavy industry, unlocking a large multi-trillion-dollar market opportunity.

What believers are saying

  • POET’s Big Stone site creates a flagship reference for biofuels and ethanol customers.
  • San Jose manufacturing expansion supports larger deployments across industrial and data center markets.
  • Low-cost, earth-abundant materials reduce dependence on lithium and critical mineral supply chains.

What critics are saying

  • One-site commercialization makes Antora dependent on Big Stone’s uptime and economics.
  • Regulatory changes to utility tariffs can break charging economics for future deployments.
  • Competing heat-storage technologies can undercut Antora on cost, simplicity, or speed.

What makes Antora Energy unique

  • Antora’s thermal batteries use solid carbon and TPV to deliver heat and power.
  • The May 2026 POET project validated 5 GWh commercial deployment at industrial scale.
  • Factory-built modules and under-12-month deployment differentiate Antora from slower infrastructure projects.

No Solar Energy? No Problem! Gigantic Undersea Cable Will Make It Happen

Sign up for daily news updates from CleanTechnica on email. Or follow us on Google NewsThe Intertubes absolutely lit up earlier today, when the Australian government finally green-lighted the massive, long awaited Australia-Asia Power Link solar energy project. Under the purview of the startup SunCable, AAPowerLink will connect the nation’s vast solar resources to the energy-hungry island of Singapore by undersea cable. The private sector venture may seem quixotic at first glance, but the technology pieces are in place — it’s just a matter of next steps.Solar Energy By (Very) Long Undersea Cable: Not A DreamThe idea of transporting solar energy by undersea cable is a relatively new twist on an old idea. The use of submarine cables for transporting renewable energy is commonplace, partly by virtue of the offshore wind industry.Long undersea cables are also commonplace and they are getting longer, especially in the field of data transmission. The new Meta undersea cable project circumnavigating Africa, for example, is 45,000 kilometers (about 27,961 miles) long
