Granite Construction begins work on Disneyland parking structure and transportation hub. August 31, 2026 California Construction News staff writer Granite Construction has begun work on a new parking structure and transportation hub at Disneyland Resort as part of a project designed to improve traffic flow and the arrival experience for visitors. Granite is partnering with Walt Disney Imagineering on the project, which will be built on the east side of the resort on a portion of the former Manchester cast member parking lot. The new facility will provide approximately 6,000 parking spaces, along with dedicated areas for shuttles and rideshare vehicles, security screening and direct access for traffic from Disney Way. The project also includes a pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard that will connect to a new esplanade and arrival area. The bridge will provide public access between Harbor Boulevard and the resort. Disneyland Resort said the parking and transportation improvements are intended to improve access and traffic movement around the resort while providing infrastructure for future growth. A groundbreaking ceremony was held Aug. 24, attended by Disneyland Resort President Jill Estorino, Walt Disney Imagineering Executive Architect Jonathan Peters, Anaheim Mayor Ashleigh Aitken, members of Anaheim City Council and representatives from McCarthy Building Companies, Granite Construction and the Los Angeles/Orange Counties Building and Construction Trades Council. "This project will enhance accessibility and improve the arrival experience for millions of guests while showcasing Granite's expertise in bridge, roadway, and transportation infrastructure," the Granite officials said following the event. The new parking and transportation hub is expected to form part of the infrastructure supporting the resort's next phase of development and future additions to Disneyland Resort.

UDOT completes I-15 interchange reconstruction in Weber County after 3 years.

UDOT completes I-15 interchange reconstruction in Weber County after 3 years. Posted: Aug 17, 2026 / 07:30 PM MDT Updated: Aug 17, 2026 / 07:30 PM MDT ROY, Utah (ABC4) - After three years, UDOT has completed its reconstruction of the I-15 interchange at 5600 South/State Route 97 in Weber County. UDOT completely reconstructed the interchange, replacing it with a new single-point urban interchange, which brings traffic from the I-15 ramps and 5600 South together at a single traffic light. Construction on the interchange began in the summer of 2023. UDOT said that it will help traffic move more efficiently and improve access between Roy, Riverdale, and Hill Air Force Base. More than 100,000 vehicles travel on I-15 and 5600 South each day, so this project was intended to address current traffic needs while also preparing for continued growth in northern Utah. Brady Roberts, UDOT Region 1 Project Manager, said the new interchange will increase efficiency and will be safer. "It's going to improve businesses as well, as far as getting people to and from business in the local area, but really it just comes down to the traveling public and keeping things safe," he said. In addition to the new interchange, the project also widened 5600 South between I-15 and 3500 West. It also added more options for walking and biking along the road, introducing new sidewalks, bike lanes, and a multi-use trail. There's also a new pedestrian bridge carrying the D&RGW Rail Trail over 5600 South near Roy Elementary and Roy Junior High Schools. The bridge gives pedestrians, cyclists, and students a separated crossing over the busy road. UDOT will be celebrating the project's completion at Roy Elementary's Back-to-School Night on Thursday, Aug. 20. Community members are invited, and there will be free ice cream. The project was constructed by a joint venture between W.W. Clyde and Granite Construction.

Granite subsidiary opens new Mississippi River aggregate facility in Memphis

Memphis Stone & Gravel, a Granite subsidiary, has opened a new aggregate sales facility called River Yard in Memphis, Tennessee. The six-acre site, which began operations in July 2026, is strategically positioned on the Mississippi River to receive limestone products barged from Warren Paving's Slats Lucas Quarry in Salem, Kentucky. The facility marks Memphis Stone & Gravel's re-entry into the stone market after decades of focusing primarily on sand and gravel products. Initial inventory includes various limestone products such as 610s, No. 8, 810, No. 57, and No. 4 stone. The expansion strengthens Granite's presence in the Southeast, one of America's fastest-growing regions, by combining Warren Paving's quarry resources with Memphis Stone & Gravel's established market presence.
