Requirements
  • Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs accredited program of Electroneurodiagnostic technology or the equivalent.
  • Registration as an EEG Technician by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists is required and must be maintained.
  • Certification as a Certified Long Term Monitoring Technician by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists is required.
  • Two years of EEG Technician work experience is required.
  • Must take call.
  • May require working irregular hours under stressful conditions, rotating shifts, and weekends.
  • Considerable knowledge of basic medical terminology and human anatomy.
  • Ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions when executing complex therapeutic procedures.
  • Ability to make accurate physical observations of patients.
Responsibilities
  • Record neurophysiologic potentials using electronic equipment for the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases and conditions involving the nervous system.
  • Work under indirect supervision, with the EEG Coordinator or physician immediately available for assistance during all procedures.
  • Mentor and serve as a resource for staff and patients.
  • Participate on committees.
  • Investigate new practices and present them to peers.
  • Serve as a preceptor for the unit.
