Requirements
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering, or 10 years of equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lean certification is a plus.
  • Requires 4 to 6 years of experience in a production environment and has demonstrated the capability with different control systems (e.g., Allen Bradley, Rockwell), being able to write a full control system logic when necessary.
  • Proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI applications (including programming and configuring), along with communications within the enterprise and control of networked systems
  • PLC programming (Rockwell required, Siemens, Automation Direct, or other)
  • Input and output device design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Industrial communication networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, UDP/TCP, etc.)
  • Experience with robotic platforms
  • Review and approve project drawings. You may also be responsible for completing the AutoCAD drawings.
  • Experience with sensors, actuators, pumps, VFDs, and other industrial automation hardware is a plus.
  • Express knowledge in PID loops, tuning, and feedback systems
  • Express knowledge in reading and creating schematics, panel design, and power distribution basics
  • Led advanced troubleshooting of PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems to diagnose and resolve complex automation failures, minimizing production downtime.
  • Developed and implemented troubleshooting standards, documentation, and diagnostic tools to improve team response time and system reliability.
  • Collaborated with maintenance and operations teams to translate system faults into actionable fixes, ensuring safe and efficient system recovery.

  • Travel: Travel may be required periodically, depending on business needs.
Responsibilities
  • Is responsible for the assigned production sites controls and automation systems, along with the development and delivery of the sites automation and controls capital plans
  • Seamlessly deliver controls and automation projects, ensuring a deep level of input from the customer, leveraging Pharmavite’s project management methodology and good practice project management tools.
  • Provides robust, timely support to manufacturing operations. Day-to-day production support is estimated to be approximately 15% of the time and may require some occasional off-hours support.
  • Leads value creation by the identification, planning, and implementation of new controls and automation systems, providing a competitive advantage to Pharmavite. As required, facilitate implementation across multiple production sites.
  • Keeps abreast of controls and automation technology and understands how it may be applied to work centers and applied across the Pharmavite manufacturing network
  • Ensure controls and automation-related projects are added to the site capital plans and multi-year Master Plans
  • Serves as a partner with the following Pharmavite functional groups/roles: Operational Excellence, Technical Operations SME’s, Engineering project managers and Project Engineers, Information technology, Operations Team leaders, Operations Engineers
  • Support the capability development of technicians who are the first line of defense for control system faults
  • Supports larger capital projects (under the leadership of a Project Manager) acts as the controls and automation lead. Provides leadership on controls and automation specifications and functional requirements, and ultimately ensures the controls aspects of the projects meet user requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
