Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, EHS, or a related discipline is required.
  • At least 15 years of environmental consulting, Environmental Health and Safety, or related industry experience with progressive technical and leadership responsibility is required.
  • At least 7 years of demonstrated business-development success, including winning new work and expanding relationships with existing clients, is required.
  • An established network of clients and industry contacts is required, preferably including national or multi-market clients.
  • Demonstrated success developing a market, building a book of business, securing key clients, and achieving financial growth objectives is required.
  • A strong technical background in one or more environmental or Environmental Health and Safety service areas is required.
  • A strong understanding of environmental and Environmental Health and Safety regulations and the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical client solutions is required.
  • The ability to operate as a seller-doer while balancing business development, client management, and technical leadership is required.
  • The ability to work independently while leveraging a national organization and collaborating across service lines is required.
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings, business development, and industry events is required.
Responsibilities
  • Drive strategic growth of Apex’s environmental and Environmental Health and Safety services throughout the Central Region in collaboration with Commercial and Service Line Leadership.
  • Develop and maintain a strong book of business by identifying opportunities with existing clients and proactively pursuing new clients and markets.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor by understanding client business challenges and connecting clients with practical environmental and Environmental Health and Safety solutions.
  • Develop new business through networking, client outreach, industry involvement, presentations, proposals, and direct sales efforts.
  • Lead sales meetings and client presentations and support development of proposals, scopes, and fee estimates.
  • Build and maintain relationships with regional and national clients and expand Apex’s presence beyond individual local markets.
  • Cross-sell complementary environmental, Environmental Health and Safety, water, engineering, and other consulting services.
  • Provide senior-level technical expertise and serve as a subject matter expert in Environmental Health and Safety, environmental compliance, permitting, site investigation and remediation, due diligence, and related environmental services.
  • Provide technical oversight and quality assurance/quality control on projects and mentor project teams to promote technical excellence and high performance.
  • Support project execution and performance with a focus on quality, innovation, profitability, and client satisfaction.
  • Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and client needs to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Travel to client locations and industry events as needed for business development, relationship management, and project support.
Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with national or multi-market client networks is preferred.
