As a Software Engineering Intern, you’ll work with experienced engineers on software, tools, and workflows that support Pareto’s teams and services. You’ll contribute to scoped projects, take part in code reviews and team planning, and learn how software moves from an idea to a reliable product. You’ll also have opportunities to work across the stack, learn an existing production codebase, and see how changes are tested, reviewed, and deployed.

What you’ll do

Help design, build, test, and maintain software features and internal tools.
Contribute to web applications and backend services, working with technologies such as TypeScript, Angular, Ionic, GraphQL, and MySQL.
Work with engineers and partners across product, operations, and other teams to understand needs and shape solutions.
Write clear, maintainable code and contribute to automated tests and technical documentation.
Learn and apply engineering practices such as version control, code review, automated testing, and continuous integration.
Participate in code reviews, team meetings, and project planning.
Investigate bugs and help improve the reliability and usability of existing systems.
Work with cloud-based services and infrastructure, including AWS and serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda.
Share progress, ask questions, and incorporate feedback as you work.
Learn to navigate and contribute to an existing codebase while following established engineering patterns and practices.

Nice to have

Experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, Angular, React, or another modern web framework.
Experience with web development, APIs, GraphQL, databases, or cloud platforms.
Exposure to AWS, serverless applications, or infrastructure-as-code tools such as AWS CDK.
Familiarity with tools such as Git and collaborative software development workflows.
Personal, academic, or open-source projects you can share.
Experience working with relational databases such as MySQL or another SQL-based database.

What we’re looking for

Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Experience with at least one programming language through coursework, projects, or prior experience.
Familiarity with core software development concepts such as data structures, version control, testing, and debugging.
A willingness to learn new technologies and work in an unfamiliar codebase.
Interest in learning how software supports real business and customer needs.
Clear communication, curiosity, and a willingness to work collaboratively.
