Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of two years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required.
  • A valid state driver's license is required.
  • The candidate must pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
  • Experience working with children and knowledge of youth development are required.
  • Experience and ability in creating interactive and educational activities are required.
  • The candidate must be able to organize, manage time, set priorities, motivate youth, manage behavior problems, plan and implement quality youth programs, and organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
  • The candidate must be able to stand, walk, and sit; use hands and fingers on a computer keyboard and other office equipment; and lift or move up to 25 pounds during a standard four- or eight-hour shift.
  • The candidate must maintain a constant state of alertness in a safety-sensitive work environment.
  • Florida Level 2 employment screening is required, including fingerprint-based statewide, federal, and potentially local criminal records checks.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate activities within the Character and Leadership program area.
  • Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
  • Ensure youth engagement, stimulate participation, and promote consistent attendance in activities.
  • Establish rapport with youth and provide mentoring, guidance, role modeling, and direction for leadership development, artistic skills, physical activity engagement, and academic progress.
  • Implement and administer programs, services, and activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs, services, and activities to ensure member safety, program quality, and club appearance.
  • Engage members successfully in activities and provide a safe environment.
  • Support members' emotional and social development by encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
  • Plan and facilitate purposeful, engaging activities and group projects.
  • Submit regular lesson plans, attendance sheets, and other administrative work.
  • Participate in training, staff development activities, and club staff meetings.
  • Maintain daily contact with club staff, volunteers, members, and the supervisor to exchange information, discuss issues, explain guidelines and instructions, instruct, collaborate, and advise or counsel.
  • Clean, set up, and close down the program area daily.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certifications and credentials in the respective skill-based activity are highly preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred.
