About the job
- An MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school is required.
- Completion of an accredited Neurology residency is required.
- Fellowship training in Epilepsy/Clinical Neurophysiology or equivalent specialized training in epilepsy is required.
- Board certification or board eligibility in Neurology is required; additional epilepsy or clinical neurophysiology board certification is preferred.
- Eligibility for medical licensure in California is required.
- Strong clinical judgment and communication skills are required.
- Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered neurological care is required.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, innovative, team-based outpatient environment is required.
- The physician must be able to work on-site.
- Provide comprehensive outpatient evaluation and management of adults with epilepsy and seizure disorders.
- Diagnose and manage focal, generalized, and medically refractory epilepsies.
- Perform detailed neurological evaluations for epilepsy and general neurology patients and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Review and interpret electroencephalograms and other relevant diagnostic studies as appropriate.
- Manage antiseizure medications and monitor treatment effectiveness, tolerability, and safety.
- Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, lifestyle considerations, and seizure safety.
- Identify patients who may benefit from advanced epilepsy evaluation, including surgical or other specialized treatment approaches, and coordinate appropriate referrals.
- Collaborate with neurologists, primary care physicians, advanced practice providers, neuropsychology, and other healthcare professionals when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough clinical documentation.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support the development of clinical programs and workflows.
- Additional epilepsy or clinical neurophysiology board certification.
