Requirements
  • MLPAO certification or CSMLS certification is required.
  • Experience in a hospital pathology laboratory is preferred.
  • Experience in the accreditation process is an asset.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Problem recognition and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Effective time-management skills and the ability to organize work and set priorities are required.
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • The ability to work effectively, efficiently, and accurately is required.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
  • The employee must be able to perform all necessary bona fide duties for the position and the duties outlined in the Job Demands Analysis.
  • The employee must work safely, follow Section 28 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and comply with Southlake Health occupational health and safety policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Perform accessioning and processing of surgical, cytology, and flow cytometry specimens in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Empty and discard pathology specimens and waste at designated areas.
  • Perform equipment maintenance and inventory activities.
  • Provide training and support to team members, including staff and students.
  • Perform quality control activities.
  • Perform other laboratory technical and non-technical functions under supervision.
  • Promote a positive and collaborative work environment that fosters teamwork, engagement, and high morale.
