Requirements
  • A Master's degree is required, preferably in counseling, human services, or higher education, or equivalent experience advising in a college or university setting.
  • A minimum of 3 to 4 years of work or educational experience is required, preferably in higher education.
  • Experience working with Course Catalog, Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS), Workday, Salesforce, or EAB Navigate is a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, are required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated counseling ability using development theory to create a student-centered academic environment is required.
  • The candidate must be detail-oriented and able to work with precision.
  • The candidate must be able to remain calm under pressure and communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and across multiple levels.
  • Good public speaking and presentation skills are required.
  • The candidate must be able to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • The candidate must value confidentiality around sensitive issues and determine appropriate levels of communication for sensitive information.
  • The candidate must be able to set goals, multitask, and manage time effectively.
  • The candidate must demonstrate self-motivation and initiative.
  • The candidate must be motivated to gain broad knowledge of the academic programs offered.
  • The candidate must adhere to applicable ADA, FERPA, SEVIS, state, federal, university, and college regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Manage an assigned caseload of students in a team-based advising model.
  • Manage student demand successfully during high-traffic periods.
  • Assist with new student orientation sessions.
  • Participate in recruitment activities as needed.
  • Support and facilitate events and workshops that contribute to the student experience.
  • Participate in special events hosted by the Undergraduate Programs Office.
  • Provide student-centered support and guidance to undergraduate Business majors regarding college and university policies, course selection, preregistration, registration, and co-op scheduling.
  • Support student engagement, academic progression, and retention.
  • Serve as a liaison among university administrators, students, parents, faculty, staff, and others regarding students' academic success.
  • Communicate frequently with offices across the University to support student success.
  • Use university systems to advise students.
  • Work some evenings and weekends, and travel when necessary for certain events or tasks.
Desired Qualifications
