Fisher doubles Cisco stake, adds 22x more Palo Alto shares in AI security play

Ken Fisher's firm increased its stakes in Cisco Systems and Palo Alto Networks between March and June, according to regulatory filings disclosed in September. Fisher Asset Management's Cisco position rose from 17.3 million to 33.4 million shares, whilst its Palo Alto holdings jumped from 256,661 to 5.8 million shares. The two companies represent different approaches to AI infrastructure security. Cisco combines networking equipment with security software, reporting 28% growth in fiscal Q4 networking revenue to $9.8 billion and 14% growth in security revenue to $2.2 billion. Palo Alto focuses on security platforms, posting 34% revenue growth to $3.41 billion in its fiscal Q4, though it reported a $282 million GAAP net loss partly due to fair-value charges on acquired convertible notes. The filings do not explain Fisher's investment rationale.

Palo Alto Networks: 13% yield selling puts at 29% discount, but growth slowing to 22%

Palo Alto Networks has returned 71.4% over the past year, trading about 15% below its 52-week high. An investment strategy proposes selling put options on the cybersecurity company, potentially yielding 12.6% annualized by collecting premium whilst parking collateral in Treasury bills. The strategy involves selling a put option expiring September 2027 at a $240 strike price, collecting roughly $2,128 premium per contract. This represents about a 35% discount to the current $336.98 share price. Revenue reached $11.5 billion in fiscal 2026, up 24%. The company's XSIAM security operations platform ended above $700 million in annual recurring revenue. However, management has guided next-generation security ARR growth to slow from 63% to 22-23% in fiscal 2027, as recent acquisitions CyberArk and Chronosphere no longer contribute new growth.

BofA says buy Palo Alto Networks after 9% dip on $3.41B revenue beat

Palo Alto Networks reported fiscal fourth-quarter revenue of $3.41 billion, surpassing the $3.35 billion analyst estimate. Adjusted earnings reached $1.02 per share, beating the 98-cent consensus. Next-generation security annualised recurring revenue climbed 63% year-over-year to $9.1 billion. Despite the beat, shares fell roughly 9% in the following session. The drop continues a pattern where strong results trigger selloffs due to stretched valuations. Bank of America took the opposite view, recommending investors buy the dip. The firm noted that much of the recent growth stems from two acquisitions: the $25 billion purchase of CyberArk in February and the roughly $3.4 billion deal for Chronosphere. The company posted a GAAP net loss of $282 million for the quarter, driven by fair-value changes on convertible notes and integration costs.

Palo Alto Networks posts Q4 revenue of $3.41B, guides for fiscal 2027 growth of 23%–24%

Palo Alto Networks used its fiscal Q4 2026 earnings call to position AI as a key cybersecurity demand driver, linking machine-speed threats to the need for unified, real-time defence. Chairman Nikesh Arora highlighted three AI shifts reshaping security: autonomous agents, advanced cyber models, and expanding open-source ecosystems. The company added approximately 220 net new platformisations in Q4, a record. Major deals included a $126 million global telecom agreement. Next-Generation Security ARR reached $9.1 billion, up 63%. For fiscal 2027, CFO Dipak Golechha guided revenues of $14.1 billion–$14.2 billion, up 23%–24%, and NGS ARR of $11.075 billion–$11.175 billion, up 22%–23%.
