Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 6 years of telecommunications training and/or experience is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and profitability at the Technician III level is required.
  • Exceptional ability in telephony beyond the general parameters of installation and technical expertise is required.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems is required.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and good judgment is required.
  • Mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, are required.
  • Ability to efficiently use a Windows-based computer is required.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and on time is required.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment is required.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team is required.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and criminal background check is required.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of prolonged standing, climbing stairs, ladders, or scaffolds; carrying loads; reaching and grasping; stooping, kneeling, walking, bending, crawling, and crouching; carrying, pushing, and pulling; finger and wrist dexterity; hand-eye coordination; and lifting or moving up to 70 pounds is required.
  • Ability to work in environments involving noise, dust, chemicals, solvents, and mechanical or electrical hazards is required.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform structured cabling and install integrated voice and data systems, key systems, networks, and wireless systems.
  • Complete additions, removals, changes, upgrades, and maintenance for service contracts.
  • Install and maintain equipment.
  • Engineer new projects.
  • Install and maintain central office equipment and infrastructure, including ironwork, alternating current, transport equipment, and related infrastructure; occasionally perform outside plant installation.
  • Manage assigned tool inventory and ensure tools are current on calibration.
  • Submit an Engineering Change Request or redline for changes affecting work items, assignments, or specifications.
  • Write and present a method of procedure for customer approval.
  • Stage equipment and inventory materials for accuracy.
  • Assign tasks to subordinates and monitor their work for efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Ensure accurate installation of all types of equipment.
  • Test wiring and installations for completeness and correctness.
  • Coordinate power cuts with customers within the maintenance window.
  • Complete and submit accurate final paperwork to customers on time.
  • Manage project start-to-completion to deliver a quality, on-time, profitable product to the customer.
  • Complete quality assurance procedures and check final products for errors.
  • Ensure crew safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Interface with customer contacts on projects and work orders.
  • Interface with end users and coordinate with other vendors when required by the customer.
  • Provide technical support to customer contacts and technicians as requested.
  • Attend project planning and progress meetings with or without assigned customer contacts.
  • Understand, adhere to, and promote environmental, health, and safety policies and telecommunications standards.
  • Perform other related duties as required, including ground support, site preparation, equipment maintenance, warehouse support, or assistance with other company projects when role-specific assignments are unavailable.
