About the company

Belvedere Trading is a proprietary trading firm that uses its own capital to make markets in options and other exchange-traded derivatives. Its traders post prices at which they are willing to buy or sell, providing liquidity to other market participants while managing the positions those transactions create. Quantitative researchers, traders, and engineers develop pricing models, execution tools, and risk systems that support decisions and trading across electronic exchanges. The firm earns money from its trading activities and arrangements with backed trading groups, using internal technology as part of that business. Belvedere Trading was founded in 2002 and is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.

What believers are saying

  • Capital exceeded the regulatory floor: Belvedere Trading LLC held $131.8 million net capital in December 2025, versus $1 million required.
  • Trader development crosses products: Belvedere's junior rotation program spans equity indices, interest rates, and commodity desks.

What critics are saying

  • Clearing exposure is concentrated: Belvedere Trading LLC disclosed approximately $150 million credit exposure to its clearing firm in December 2025.
  • Campus offers have limited flexibility: Belvedere's recruiting FAQ fixes position, title, location, and internship dates after an offer.
  • Some engineering work starts early: Belvedere's Chicago FPGA Engineer posting requires occasional on-site attendance before standard business hours.

What makes Belvedere Trading unique
