Finout is a FinOps platform that helps businesses manage and optimize cloud costs across multiple providers. It gathers all cloud spending data into a single view through its MegaBill, enabling holistic cost visibility and more efficient allocation of expenses. The Virtual Tagging layer identifies wasteful spend and translates it into unit costs, providing granular cost attribution and making showbacks straightforward. The platform integrates with common cloud services and monitoring tools like Datadog, Prometheus, and CloudWatch without requiring extra coding. It is sold on a subscription basis, offering cost analytics, optimization features, and ROI-focused insights to help organizations control cloud spending and improve cloud investment returns. Finout differentiates itself by offering end-to-end cost visibility across providers, precise cost attribution via Virtual Tagging, and seamless integrations that reduce setup effort for FinOps teams.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Codex integration broadens Finout into AI spend attribution for engineering and finance teams.
  • Daily usage ingestion and three-month backfill create immediate visibility after deployment.
  • Read-only metadata access reduces security concerns for enterprises protecting code and prompts.

What critics are saying

  • OpenAI billing or API changes can quickly erode the Codex integration’s usefulness.
  • Native cloud and AI vendors can bundle similar allocation features into their products.
  • Enterprise buyers can delay purchases when cloud spend slows and FinOps budgets tighten.

What makes Finout unique

  • MegaBill unifies cloud, Kubernetes, AI, and SaaS spending into one normalized view.[1][5]
  • Virtual Tags allocate untagged costs retroactively without code changes or relabeling resources.[3][4]
  • Finout maps AI usage, including tokens and inference costs, into dollar-based unit economics.[4][9]
