About the job

Requirements
  • At least 7 years of experience in security engineering, cybersecurity, or technology risk, including demonstrated ownership of a vulnerability management or technical risk-reduction program.
  • Hands-on cloud security experience with AWS at scale.
  • Experience leading technical teams, including architecture or design reviews with engineering teams.
  • Working knowledge of risk and control frameworks, including NIST and ISO 27001.
  • Working familiarity with incident response and detection engineering.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and lead without authority.
Responsibilities
  • Lead vulnerability management and risk reduction across cloud and code environments, partnering with engineering teams to prioritize and remediate the highest-impact findings.
  • Own architecture reviews for new systems and major changes by evaluating cloud configurations and IAM policies, identifying risks before release, and guiding engineers through remediation.
  • Set and enforce security architecture practices across the AWS environment, evaluate design decisions, and identify gaps between technical controls and their stated effectiveness.
  • Translate technical risk into actionable business terms for business-unit leaders, Engineering, Finance, and Legal, and build trusted relationships across the portfolio.
  • Maintain working familiarity with incident response and detection engineering practices, partnering with the engineers responsible for day-to-day detection and response; the role does not have primary incident-response ownership.
  • Use automation and AI tooling to reduce manual security and compliance workflows, targeting meaningful burden reduction within the first year.
  • Oversee compliance programs across PCI, SOC 2, ISO 27001, and NYDFS; own the policy exception program and oversee vendor and third-party risk management.
  • Develop the team and its scope and ownership over time.
Desired Qualifications
  • AWS Security Specialty certification or an equivalent hands-on cloud security credential; CISSP, GCFA, GIAC, CISA, or CRISC certification is a plus.
  • Experience in a multi-business-unit or holding-company environment, including familiarity with federated environments where risk priorities and technology stacks vary by business unit.
  • Experience in regulated environments, including SOC 2, PCI, or NYDFS, gained through partnership with a compliance function rather than sole ownership.
  • Scripting or light automation skills using Python, PowerShell, or similar tools to prototype automation before handing it off to engineering.

What believers are saying

  • Sage Home Loans won Robinhood: since November 2025, Robinhood Gold members get mortgage rates at least 0.75% below average.
  • Early-career staff move up: a March 2026 list built from promotion, pay and retention data gave Red Ventures Platinum status.
  • Benefits go past basics: US staff and their families get free therapy, plus fertility, adoption and surrogacy support.

What critics are saying

  • Plan on commuting: Red Ventures asks for 3 to 4 office days a week, varying by team.
  • Expect leadership changes: Bankrate named an outside CEO in October 2025, four months after The Points Guy did.
  • Demand swings with the economy: in 2022, Moody's said its consumer finance and travel units fell sharply in the pandemic.

What makes Red Ventures unique

  • It shares a health business with an insurer: RVO Health, co-owned with UnitedHealth Group, runs Healthline and Healthgrades.
  • Bankrate's rate surveys are economic data: in May 2026, the St. Louis Fed's public database added 40 years of them.
  • Red Ventures sells its growth skills too: its RV Home unit embeds data and growth teams inside home-services brands.
