President Trump visits Georgia, highlights tax relief, job growth, and border security measures.

President Trump visits Georgia, highlights tax relief, job growth, and border security measures. President Trump visited Georgia, citing tax relief, job growth, and border security as key achievements. The administration reported investments from major companies, support for farmers, and a decline in crime rates across the state. 3 days ago Saturday, Oct 17 By ATL Standard October 16 - President Donald J. Trump returned to Georgia, outlining a series of policies and initiatives that he said have delivered tax relief, job creation, and increased security for the state's residents. According to the announcement, Trump's Working Families Tax Cuts have resulted in approximately 1.8 million Georgia seniors paying no federal taxes on Social Security benefits, with the average senior expected to pay zero federal taxes on those benefits. Georgia taxpayers reportedly saw average refunds of $3,169 in 2026, and the tax cuts were said to have safeguarded 198,000 jobs, $36 billion in state GDP, and $18 billion in workers' wages. The state also secured $219 million in first-year funding for rural health investments. Georgia seniors benefited from the new senior deduction, according to the White House, and average refunds were among the highest in the nation, according to Upgraded Points. The statement highlighted a surge in private investment, with companies such as Pirelli, Siemens, and UCB making significant commitments to expand or establish new facilities in Georgia. Pirelli is investing $1.2 billion to expand its Rome facility, creating 1,000 jobs, while Siemens is investing $185 million in Pendergrass, creating 1,400 jobs. UCB is building a $2 billion manufacturing facility in Gwinnett County. Additional investments from companies like Mayville Engineering, DeltaX, ArcelorMittal Building Solutions, and others are expected to bring thousands of new jobs to the state. Georgia is also positioned to benefit from national investments by GE Appliances, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Silver Lake, Anheuser-Busch, and General Dynamics, according to state and company press releases. The administration said it is supporting Georgia families by freezing base rates for Georgia Power customers through 2029, delivering more than $2.8 billion in savings, or $180 per year for the typical residential consumer. Georgia's major utilities have signed the Ratepayer Protection Pledge, ensuring that large data centers, not residential customers, pay for their power and infrastructure needs, according to Georgia Power and the White House. Farmers have received more than $177 million through the Emergency Commodity Assistance Program and over $171 million under a national bridge program for trade disruptions and higher input costs, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. On border security, the statement said Trump signed the Laken Riley Act into law, requiring detention of illegal immigrants charged with theft or violence. The administration reported that no illegal aliens have been released from the border into the U.S. interior for 17 consecutive months, and that refugee admissions are down nearly 90% from 2024 levels. Southern border apprehensions in August were 94% lower than the monthly average under the previous administration, and the U.S. recorded negative net migration in 2025 for the first time in 50 years, according to the Department of Homeland Security and Pew Research Center. Crime rates have also declined, with murders in Atlanta dropping 22% last year and homicides down 36% in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the previous year. In DeKalb County, murders fell nearly 30% last year, according to the Major Cities Chiefs Association. The administration said these outcomes reflect ongoing efforts to support law enforcement and implement tough-on-crime policies.

FDA green light for UCB and positive view from DB.

FDA green light for UCB and positive view from DB. Belgian biopharmaceutical group UCB has announced that the US FDA has approved a new administration option for Zilbrysq (zilucoplan), its treatment for generalized myasthenia gravis in adult patients with anti-acetylcholine receptor (AChR) antibodies. Published on 10/16/2026 at 04:00 am EDT MarketScreener.com The authorization covers an auto-injector enabling daily subcutaneous administration by the patient. It is the first device of its kind approved in the United States for this indication. Until now, Zilbrysq had been available as a prefilled syringe. The approval is notably based on a phase 1 study demonstrating the bioequivalence of the two administration methods and on a phase 3b study involving 31 patients. The latter showed that 99.8% of administrations using the auto-injector delivered a full dose of the treatment. Another study, conducted among 100 participants, found that 90% had successfully completed their first injection without prior training. UCB expects to commercialize the new auto-injector in Q1 2027. Meanwhile, Deutsche Bank commented on two third-party surveys covering physicians' reception of the phase 2 data for Tulisokibart in hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) and the latest update on Icotyde in light of the solid launch currently underway at Johnson & Johnson. These two factors are viewed as slight negatives for UCB, although the first is fully consistent with the conclusions most investors drew from the recent conference, while the second reinforces the reasons why investors are apprehensive about the upcoming results for oral Remibrutinib in HS. Nevertheless, Deutsche Bank believes this is more than fully priced in the stock's current valuation; it therefore continues to view the stock as a buy opportunity. The broker therefore has a buy rating on the stock, with a target price of €295. (C) MarketScreener.com - 2026
