How a CinemaCon conversation led to the one of the biggest projects in Pops Corn(R) history.

How a CinemaCon conversation led to the one of the biggest projects in Pops Corn(R) history. September 01, 2026 Keith deSouza At Pops Corn(R), every kernel tells a story. Some stories start in its kitchen over copper kettles, while others begin hundreds of miles away in a bustling convention hall. Back at CinemaCon, its team had the opportunity to meet face-to-face with a contact from NBCUniversal. Pops Corn pushed forward on a custom concept that had been sitting in strategic limbo for months. In today's hyper-digital world, it was a powerful reminder that nothing replaces building real relationships in person. That conversation sparked a partnership that transformed into one of the most ambitious projects in its company's history. From meeting room to national movie theaters. Fast forward through months of design iterations, structural testing, and recipe scaling. That single trade show meeting evolved into a full-scale production partnership with NBCUniversal and Illumination. Its mission was clear yet complex: design and manufacture two first-of-their-kind custom Minions popcorn bags for nationwide theatrical release alongside Minions & Monsters - a life-size concession bag built for theater counters and a collectible retail-size bag. Executing custom packaging at this scale requires absolute precision. When delivering bulk gourmet popcorn products to nationwide theater chains, every single bag must deliver identical flavor intensity, perfect crunch, and structural durability during transport. | Project Milestone | Execution Details | | Initial Concepting | Handled artwork approval, custom bag sizing, and barrier film selection to protect product freshness. | | High-Volume Production | Scaled batch cooking without sacrificing its signature kettle-popped texture. | | National Logistics | Distributed life-size concession bags and retail packaging to theater locations across the country. | | Broadcast Recognition | Featured live on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. | Spotting its family business on national television. Just as thousands of custom bags were arriving in theaters across the country, its team caught a moment Pops Corn won't ever forget: During an episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the life-size Minions popcorn bag made an appearance right on Jimmy's desk. Seeing a product developed by its family business showcased on national television was surreal. It proved that a dedicated family enterprise can meet the operational demands of global entertainment powerhouses while holding onto artisanal quality standards. "As a family business, opportunities like this don't come around every day. We're incredibly grateful to help create memorable movie experiences for families across the country." Why major brands choose Pops Corn(R) for High-Volume orders. Fulfilling orders of this scale requires matching commercial capacity with artisanal quality control. Whether popping for major motion picture rollouts or corporate celebrations, its operational pipeline relies on strict standards: * Small-Batch Kettle Cooking: Pops Corn scale quantity without relying on hyper-processed automated shortcuts. Its kernels are popped using refined temperature controls to achieve optimal expansion and crunch. * Commercial Barrier Packaging: Moisture is the enemy of fresh popcorn. Its custom barrier bags lock in crunch and seal out humidity during transit. * Custom Brand Integration: From specialty co-branding initiatives to private-label enterprise events, Pops Corn engineer custom bag dimensions, artwork printing, and tailored flavor profiles. Explore its full range of bulk gourmet popcorn supplies for your next large event, or read its family business story to see how Pops Corn grew from local kitchens to national distribution. Frequently asked questions. Can Pops Corn(R) produce custom bulk gourmet popcorn packaging for corporate events or theater chains? Yes. Pops Corn offer fully custom co-branded packaging, custom bag dimensions, and tailored flavor selections for large-scale corporate events, retail partners, and entertainment venues. Learn more on its event catering and custom popcorn packaging page. How does Pops Corn(R) keep bulk gourmet popcorn fresh during national distribution? Pops Corn utilize specialized food-grade barrier films designed to shield popcorn from ambient humidity and air exchange. Each batch is packed immediately after cooling to maintain peak crunch from its kitchen to your event venue. What makes batch-crafted bulk popcorn superior to standard wholesale theater popcorn? Standard wholesale popcorn is often pre-popped weeks in advance using low-grade oils and heavy artificial preservers. Pops Corn(R) uses premium non-GMO kernels cooked in small batches with real ingredients, delivering high flavor integrity and clean texture even at high volumes. A huge thank you to the teams at NBCUniversal and Illumination for trusting Pops Corn with their vision, and to every member of the Pops Corn(R) team who poured their passion into bringing these bags to life. Next time you visit your local movie theater, keep an eye out for the custom Minions bags on the concession counter!
