Certified Medical Assistant/Licensed Practical Nurse Obstetrics and Gynecology

JOB SUMMARY:

Medical Assistants/ LPN's work collaboratively as an active member of the interdisciplinary team to provide patient centered care across the continuum.They alsoprovide an excellent patient experience, high-quality outcomes, and improved productivity for the team.  This position is based in Brevard, North Carolina.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate in daily huddles with patient care team(s)

• Prepare patient charts for providers

• Review patient registries and identify preventative care due for patient

• Assist in preventive care outreach initiatives

• Obtain vitals

• Assist in obtaining medical records

• Perform screening procedures as indicated

• Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during exams

• Prepare sterile fields

• Perform phlebotomyand process specimens

• Prepare and administer medications and vaccines, including intramuscular and intradermal injections as directed by provider

• Serve as a preceptor for new staff 

• Provide occasional coverage support for other MAHEC ambulatory offices

• Assist in administrative duties as needed, including handling calls 

• Participates in process improvement of new and existing workflows 

• Actively embraces and supports divisional and organizationalqualityinitiatives

• Supports pop-up vaccine and testing community events

SPECIFIED SKILLS

COMPUTER

• Excellent skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications required.

• Knowledge and experience documenting patient care in an electronic health record.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE

• Spanish speaking skills preferred.

SKILLS

• Phlebotomy experience for patients of all ages. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Light- Moderate energy level: Lift and carry 25 - 35 lbs, Push/Pull 50 - 100 lbs (empty bed, stretcher, etc.)

• Frequent (34 - 66% of Workday)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Not applicable. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certification as a Medical Assistant through AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT. NHA candidates must have completed a one (1) to two (2) year diploma or degree program or have two (2) years of prior clinical experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• One (1) to two (2) years of medical assisting experience in a primary care ambulatory setting preferred, or LPN licensure

REQUIRED LICENSES:

• Medical Assistant Certification  or LPN

• Current CPR certification

SCHEDULE:

Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position. Typical business hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division); 40 hours per workweek; weekend, holiday, or evening coverage is occasionally required. Work hours will need to be flexible in order to respond to special work assignments, or evening activities, as requested by the team leader.

POSITION COMPENSATION:

$22.79- $27.88/hour, based on certification or licensure, this is a part time position with 30 hours/week
