Callaway's new Full Toe SP Wedges encourage creativity around the green.

Callaway's new Full Toe SP Wedges encourage creativity around the green. Callaway's newest wedge was designed to solve a problem. When you open the face of a wedge, your strike tends to move toward the toe, where there aren't always grooves, and farther from the CG. The new Full SP Wedges solve this with a full-face groove design, giving you 44-percent more groove area than a conventional wedge, and a more optimized and higher CG to help you gain control around the greens. "When you're around the green, Full Toe SP brings out so much creativity - whether it's out of the bunker, the rough, the fairway. Or whether you're playing with a high, low, open face, or square face," Callaway VP of Global Product Strategy, Jacob Davidson, said in a release. "With the Full Toe shape, Golf has increased that area of that high toe, which allows you to have more room on that side of the club. And by adding full-length grooves that extend across the face, there's much more groove area to work with on this wedge. "This wedge is like a get-out-of-jail-free card, time and time again." Keep reading below for more on the Callaway Full Toe SP wedges, including my take on the release. What's actually new with Callaway Full Toe SP wedges - and why you should care. Callaway's highest CG wedge yet. The whole point of Callaway's Opus SP (Spin Pocket) platform is to raise the CG of a wedge by creating a pocket lower in the head and reallocating that mass higher in the clubhead. This year's Opus SP+ pushed that concept further, but now the Full Toe SP is taking it to another level. With the expanded toe area and larger shape overall, combined with a spin pocket that is 18 percent larger than Opus SP+ and 35 percent larger than the standard Opus SP, the new Full Toe SP is Callaway's highest CG wedge ever. The high CG, along with Full Face Spin Gen 2.0 grooves, helps players generate even more spin and flight the ball lower. Compared to traditional wedge shapes, the additional offset of the Full Toe SP also helps players flight the ball down. The offset can also help players launch it higher out of bunker shots while retaining that high spin. "Kind of the Swiss Army knife here of wedges, where you have the best of both worlds with the low spin or the high spin low launch on those square face, and then that high launch high spin on the open face shots," Brian Hurr, Callaway's R&D Manager, Wedges, said in a product presentation. New J- and jw-grinds. Given that the Full Toe is designed to be used differently than a traditional wedge shape, Callaway optimized two unique grinds for the wedge, rather than taking existing Opus SP grinds. The J-Grind is available on all five loft options and offers a lower effective bounce with aggressive heel relief and additional camber. Callaway has offered a J-Grind before, but the updates to the camber and relief were a significant part of the design. "What that allows you to do is it just makes it more forgiving," Hurr said. "So, if you hit behind the ball a little bit, you're not going to lose as much speed." The wider JW-Grind is only available on the 62 ̊ and is designed to be a bunker-friendly club with more bounce and a wider sole. "You take that thing in the bunker; you don't even have to open it up," Hurr added. "You can just throw your hands in it. It pops it right out." Callaway Full Toe SP wedges. What is it: An oversized, cavity-back wedge designed to lower ball flight and increase spin both on full shots and around the greens. Available lofts: 54J, 56J, 58J, 60J, 62J, 62JW (62 ̊ lofts RH and Custom Only) Who it's for: Players who don't mind an unconventional look and want more spin and a lower ball flight. My take: Another tool in Callaway's wedge toolbox. I honestly wasn't expecting Callaway to release a wedge like this in this cycle, given they had put out Opus SP+ earlier this year. But it really does make a lot of sense and can help a lot of golfers. Full-face wedge designs like this are rare at the highest levels of professional golf (although they sometimes pop up!), but for an amateur player, even a low-handicapper, many struggle with spin control and generating enough around the greens. I happen to fall into that category sometimes, and that's where one of these high-CG wedges with full-face grooves can really benefit you. You're also helped out by the offset, which is having a bit of a renaissance in wedge design at the moment, delaying impact slightly and allowing you to capture the ball. When I hit shots with these Full Toe SP wedges, the ball comes off low and with a ton of spin from a square face, which can be really useful around almost any course I play. Then I open it up, and the ball elevates effortlessly. If that's what you're looking for, than the Full Toe SP is the way to go. Callaway's new Full Toe SP wedges are available for pre-order starting Aug. 21 and will arrive at retail locations on the same day. Each wedge will cost $199.99. Full Toe SP Wedges in the J-Grind are available in both left- and right-handed from 54 ̊ to 60 ̊ while the 62 ̊ lofts in the J- or JW-Grind are right-handed only and only available through custom order. Callaway Golf beats Q2 estimates with $612M revenue, raises full-year guidance on strong golf ball demand

Callaway Golf reported second quarter revenue of $612.2 million, beating analyst estimates of $604.3 million. The company also exceeded expectations on adjusted earnings per share, delivering $0.39 versus the expected $0.35. CEO Chip Brewer attributed the performance to strong consumer demand and operational discipline. Golf ball revenue grew 15%, driven by the Chrome Tour family and Super Soft franchises. The company's operating margin expanded to 18.8%, up from 12.4% in the prior year period. Callaway raised its full-year revenue guidance to $2.06 billion at the midpoint, up from $2.04 billion previously. EBITDA guidance now stands at $253 million, above analyst estimates of $229.5 million. Management addressed analyst questions about extending product life cycles to boost profitability and clarified that softer fourth-quarter sales outlook reflects launch timing rather than weakening demand.

TaylorMade Tour Response 2026 review: the TP5 for people who don't want to pay TP5 money.

TaylorMade Tour Response 2026 review: the TP5 for people who don't want to pay TP5 money. August 10, 2026 TaylorMade's TP5 gets all the attention - tour bags, TV commercials, the whole show. But sitting one shelf down and about fifteen bucks a dozen cheaper is a ball most golfers have never actually tried: the Tour Response. Turns out it might be the smarter buy for anyone who isn't cashing PGA Tour checks. The TaylorMade Tour Response is a 3-piece ball with a real cast urethane cover - not the cheaper ionomer stuff budget balls use to fake the feel. For 2026, TaylorMade rebuilt it around what they're calling a Speed Wrapped Core: a soft inner core wrapped in a progressively firmer outer layer, which is a fancy way of saying it's trying to get you more ball speed without turning into a rock in your hand. They also added their new microcoating paint process, which is thinner and more consistent than the old coating - worth mentioning mainly because it's the same underlying tech at the center of TaylorMade's ongoing paint-claim lawsuit with Callaway, so at least they're putting it somewhere useful. Who it's actually for. TaylorMade builds this one for swing speeds in the 90-105 mph range - which is to say, most golfers, not tour pros. At roughly 70 compression, it's soft enough to feel on wedges and around the green, but not so soft it feels dead off the driver. If you've been curious about a TaylorMade TP5 but balk at the price, this is TaylorMade's answer to that exact hesitation. How it stacks up on price. At around $39.99 a dozen, the Tour Response undercuts the $54.99 TP5 by a solid margin while still using a real urethane cover - the same value pitch as Titleist Tour Soft in that price bracket. If your current ball budget is "whatever's cheapest at the pro shop," this is the upgrade that doesn't feel like a splurge. The verdict. Nobody's putting the Tour Response in a tour bag over a TP5x, and that's fine - it was never built to win that fight. What it does well is give mid-swing-speed players real greenside spin and a soft, controllable feel for less than $40 a dozen, without the marketing noise that comes with TaylorMade's flagship line. If you've been playing a two-piece distance ball because urethane felt like it was priced for someone else's budget, the TaylorMade Tour Response is exactly the ball built to change your mind. Brewer: strong Q2 shows Callaway "pure play" Momentum.

Brewer: strong Q2 shows Callaway "pure play" Momentum. Encouraged by strong first half results this year, Callaway Golf (CALY: NYSE) is increasing its full-year guidance to between 2.045 to $2.070B from $2.015 to $2.070B. Callaway on Aug. 4 reported Q2 revenue of $612.2 million, a two percent increase over the same period in 2025, and first half '26 revenue at $1.3B, six percent increase over the first half of 2025. The company reported Q2 earnings increased 27 percent to $134,000, with first half earnings of $303,000 versus $243,000 in the same period in '25. "These results show that we are building momentum as a focused, pure-play golf company, and our performance reflects healthy market conditions, strong product acceptance, meaningful gross margin improvement, and disciplined execution across the business," Calalway Golf President/CEO Chip Brewer told Wall Street annaysts. Callaway Golf this past January sold 60 percent of its Topgolf business, which was never a Wall Street favorite, to bring Callaway Golf back to what Brewer was referring to as "pure play" golf company. Brewer attributed the strong Q2 numbers to a 4.5 percent increase in the Golf Equipment segment ($430 million), driven by strength across clubs and balls. The increase in Golf Equipment, the company said, was partially offset by a 3.6 percent decrease in the Apparel, Gear and Other segment as a result of the timing of shipments between the first and second quarters of this year, as well as foreign exchange headwinds in Asia, partially offset by an increase in TravisMathew sales. In regards to the TravisMathew apparel brand, Brewer his company plans to close four underperforming TravisMathew retail stores in the U.S. in Q4, leaving Callaway with 61 TravisMathew stores. Overall, however, Brewer talked up the TravisMathew side of Callaway's business. "That (TravisMathew) business grew during the quarter," Brewer said. "We've had a successful launch of the women's category that continues to do well. Year to date, I am really pleased with the impact of our revised men's strategy, where we've changed some of our focus, our product pillars, our merchandising strategy, and we've seen nice results, both direct to consumer and at wholesale there. We feel great about the outlook for TravisMathew and have seen some really positive results year to date."
