About the Role
We’re in a high-growth stage for our Machine Learning (ML) capabilities, focusing on high-impact innovation rather than incremental improvements. Join us as a Tech Lead - Personalization to shape the future of personalized experiences for millions of professionals and job seekers worldwide.
As the Tech Lead for Personalization, you’ll be the most senior individual contributor (IC) on our ML Science team, responsible for defining and driving the personalization roadmap at Glassdoor. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role where your work will directly influence our mission to make worklife better, together.
You’ll focus on increasing active users, boosting community engagement, and improving retention. Leveraging your deep expertise in large-scale recommender systems, you’ll design solutions that prioritize meaningful, positive engagement over addictive behaviors. You’ll also play a key role in exploring how Generative AI can add value, supporting professionals throughout their worklife.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the design and implementation of personalized recommender systems at scale, delivering measurable improvements to user engagement and retention.
- Define and execute the personalization roadmap, aligning with Glassdoor’s mission and goals.
- Bring expertise in Generative AI to drive innovative solutions that enhance the user experience in ethical and impactful ways.
- Mentor and guide ML scientists and engineers, fostering a culture of rapid prototyping, cutting-edge research, and results-driven innovation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, and Data Science, to create a seamless and engaging user experience.
- Stay abreast of advancements in ML, recommender systems, and Generative AI, and advocate for their strategic adoption.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven expertise in large-scale production recommender systems, with a track record of delivering impactful results.
- Strong understanding of machine learning fundamentals and system design for building scalable and maintainable solutions.
- Experience deploying Generative AI solutions, particularly in applications that prioritize user value and well-being.
- Passion for Ethical AI and creating products that contribute positively to users’ lives.
- Strong technical leadership skills, with the ability to mentor junior team members and foster a high-performing team culture.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and familiarity with modern data platforms such as Snowflake.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and influence key stakeholders.

Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range*: $171,400 - 227,700
*Glassdoor base salaries are targeted to the market 75th percentile for technical roles and the 65th percentile for non-technical roles. In other words, 65-75% of comparable organizations in our industry will pay less.
Annual Bonus Target**: 10%
**Bonuses are paid in 6-month intervals, aligning with bi-annual performance reviews

***Restricted Stock Units (RSU) are awarded at hire and may be refreshed annually. Additionally, as a pay-for-performance company, RSU grant awards are presented bi-annually to exceptional performers.

Being a remote-first company, Glassdoor employees can live anywhere Glassdoor is a registered company. Requests to move must be approved by an employee’s manager and the People team. While we will try our best to support relocation requests, some requests may not be approved due to various tax, legal, or other restrictions.
Enjoy Remote and Explore: Employees authorized to work in their current location may Work Away for up to a total of 30 (thirty) working days in a calendar year without permanent relocation and compensation change. Employees on visas may work Work Away for up to a total of 20 (twenty) working days in a calendar year without permanent relocation and compensation change. The amount of time and location for Work Away must be approved by the employee’s manager and People Operations team at least two (2) weeks in advance of travel.
