Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
  • Ideally, the candidate has a dual diploma in Electrical Engineering and Software Engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience developing Python-based automated validation frameworks and test suites for embedded systems is required.
  • Experience with CI/CD-driven validation, automated quality gates, and test result analysis for hardware-integrated and cloud-connected products is required.
  • Experience validating systems that combine custom hardware, embedded software, communications interfaces, and backend connectivity is required.
  • Working knowledge of test planning, traceability, defect management, and reproducible failure analysis is required.
  • Familiarity with embedded and industrial interfaces such as CAN, Modbus, RS-232, Ethernet, and other device communication layers is required.
  • Familiarity with cloud-connected embedded products, device-to-cloud interactions, over-the-air update validation, and end-to-end reliability is required.
  • Knowledge of system safety, regulatory constraints, and the test evidence expected in compliance-oriented product development is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to use artificial intelligence tools effectively to accelerate test development, increase coverage, analyze failures, and improve engineering throughput while applying sound judgment is required.
  • Strong understanding of test reliability, maintainability, diagnostics, and data-driven quality metrics, including identification and remediation of flaky tests, is required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Implement Python test suites, fixtures, and reusable test libraries for device behavior, interfaces, and end-to-end workflows.
  • Integrate automated validation into continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines with quality gates, artifact collection, failure triage data, and clear pass/fail criteria.
  • Contribute to early testability and risk reduction by reviewing requirements, interfaces, and acceptance criteria where useful.
  • Use field logs, telemetry, and failure data to expand regression coverage and improve validation of device-to-cloud interactions.
  • Reduce test flakiness, improve observability and diagnosability, and optimize execution time and infrastructure stability.
  • Work closely with firmware, operating system, cloud, and systems engineers to reproduce failures, isolate root causes, and support release decisions.

Massachusetts homeowners get free bidirectional EV chargers through MassCEC V2X pilot

dcbel is participating in the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center's V2X Pilot Programme, which fully subsidises the cost of dcbel Ara Home Energy Stations, including installation, for eligible Massachusetts homeowners. The programme allows participants to use their bidirectional electric vehicles to power their homes during high energy rates and blackouts whilst supporting grid resilience. Massachusetts homeowners who own or lease a Nissan Leaf (2018-2025), 2025 Polestar 3, or 2025 Volvo EX90 without existing solar or storage can apply. Applications close on 30 September 2026. Ara enables smart charging during off-peak hours and can save homeowners up to $1,300 annually. During blackouts, it can leverage the EV's battery to power homes for up to 10 days. The pilot programme aims to gather real-world data on V2X system performance and user behaviour.

dcbel Secures Funding for Global Expansion

dcbel, a leading home energy company, has secured additional funding from Fidelity Investments Canada ULC to expand manufacturing globally and accelerate in-home installations. The company is opening a US logistics center in Louisville, KY, with UPS. In 2024, dcbel received a $52 million REDWDS grant and launched the California Connected Home Rebate program, covering over 80% of the cost for their Home Energy Station.

Dcbel secures $79M in funding.

Québec's seed-stage VC funding is rebounding, with 29 deals totaling $79 million since early 2025, a 31% increase from last year. Despite this, overall VC activity in Québec remains weak, with a 57% decline in total funding year-over-year. Sixty deals totaling $524 million closed in the first half of the year. Later-stage funding decreased by 35%, with only one growth-stage deal of $30 million. Public funds continue to play a significant role, comprising 40% of the ecosystem's funding.

dcbel secures US$55M in funding

In March 2025, Canada Growth Fund led a $55 million financing round in Montréal-based dcbel Inc., investing $40 million. Idealist Climate Impact Fund LP and others contributed an additional $15 million. The funding supports dcbel's commercialization of bidirectional EV charger technology in North America and Europe, while maintaining its Canadian headquarters.
