Electrical supplies distributor Wesco International ranked No. 24 on Fortune's 2026 AIQ 75, leading a trio of wholesale distributors recognized for their ability to apply artificial intelligence and scale its use across their businesses. The Pittsburgh-based distributor announced the recognition Sept. 29, with Chairman, President and CEO John Engel emphasizing AI's role in the company's growth strategy. "We prioritize AI as a strategic enabler of growth, productivity and customer value, while maintaining a strong focus on governance and innovation," Engel said. "Our inclusion on Fortune's AIQ 75 list recognizes the progress Wesco has made in translating AI investments into enterprise-wide impact and positioning the company for continued success in an increasingly digital world." Engel said the recognition reflects Wesco's progress in converting AI spending into companywide results, supported by an emphasis on governance and innovation. The ranking draws on ServiceNow's Enterprise AI Maturity Index, which provides a framework for evaluating organizational AI progress. Fortune partnered with Enterprise Technology Research, the ranking's primary data provider, to survey technology leaders about AI implementation. Respondents assessed the value of AI investments within their own organizations and evaluated adoption among industry peers. The approach combines internal assessments with outside perceptions of companies' progress. Scoring incorporates self-assessments, peer evaluations, peer nominations and AI-agent deployment. Returning companies' prior-year scores also factor into the results. ServiceNow sponsored the ranking but was ineligible for inclusion and had no role in choosing honorees. Fortune and ETR controlled survey design, data collection and ranking calculations. MDM analysis. The presence of electrical, technology and foodservice distributors on this list underscores AI's relevance across distribution business models. For executives, the practical question is how to translate that recognition into decisions about their own operations: Where can AI improve performance, what capabilities need strengthening and which applications merit expansion? NAW's newly released 2026 AI Adoption Index provides an industry-specific starting point. Developed with Infor and based on responses from more than 300 participants, nearly all representing distributors, the report enables executives to benchmark AI adoption, scaling and value creation against companies in similar revenue bands and product sectors. The complementary "In Pursuit of Value: Where 400+ Distributors Are Investing in AI Today" research examines where distribution leaders are directing investment, what returns they are seeing and how quickly they expect to scale. Download both reports to connect the visibility of Fortune's ranking with distribution-specific evidence for your next AI decision.
