Requirements
  • Hands-on experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering frameworks such as SysML, DoDAF, UAF, or similar.
  • Experience using an MBSE toolset such as Cameo, Rhapsody, or Capella.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals, including requirements, architecture, integration, and verification and validation.
  • Experience maintaining traceability between requirements, design artifacts, and test plans.
  • Experience applying digital engineering methods and Model-Based Systems Engineering to complex systems.
  • Experience developing system models, modeling frameworks, templates, and Model-Based Systems Engineering processes, with emphasis on vehicle or system design.
  • Experience leading technical teams or project activities.
  • Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary, team-oriented cultures.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science for the listed professional levels.
  • Fourteen or more years of relevant experience for the Senior Professional level, five or more years for the Advanced Professional level, or two or more years for the Intermediate Professional level.
  • Eligibility to obtain a government security clearance.
  • Eligibility to work as a U.S. citizen, as required by the posting.
Responsibilities
  • Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering methods and Systems Modeling Language-based modeling to define and analyze system architectures.
  • Develop and maintain system models using tools such as Cameo or MagicDraw, Rhapsody, Capella, or Enterprise Architect.
  • Translate stakeholder needs into formal models, interface definitions, and verification artifacts.
  • Maintain requirements and architecture traceability across design and test activities.
  • Support technical reviews, trade studies, and risk assessments using model-based artifacts.
  • Integrate Model-Based Systems Engineering practices into existing engineering processes and collaborate with subject-matter experts.
  • Prepare and present architecture views, behavior models, and related technical documentation.
  • Support system development activities including requirements analysis, architecture development, alternatives analysis, system decomposition, detailed design, integration, and verification.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering and Subsystem Design teams on undersea system architectures.
  • Engage regularly with engineering teams, program management, sponsors, and stakeholders.
  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams at higher position levels.
  • Provide technical leadership in Model-Based Systems Engineering development, training, and best practices at higher position levels.
  • Contribute to or lead technical proposals and white papers at higher position levels.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Computer, or Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience implementing digital engineering strategies or integrated toolchains.
  • Experience using scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript to automate model workflows or data exchange.
  • Experience with simulation environments, system-of-systems modeling, or model integration.
  • Experience with configuration management for model-based artifacts.
  • Experience with CATIA MagicDraw or Cameo, System Composer, or Sparx Enterprise Architect.
  • Experience with Systems Modeling Language version 2, Unified Architecture Framework 1.2 or 1.3, Architecture Analysis and Design Language, Business Process Model and Notation, or related languages.
  • Experience with software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, or digital twin approaches.
  • Past success developing unmanned underwater systems.
  • Experience with Department of Defense and Navy systems engineering practices.
  • Current eligibility for access to classified information at the Secret level or higher and possible participation in a government background investigation to upgrade clearance eligibility.
