Requirements
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a life science, chemical or biochemical engineering, or related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in a GMP or comparably regulated or complex production environment, with direct hands-on accountability for process performance across the Make value stream.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and sustaining a production or business operating system in a line role, including strategy deployment, tiered daily management, kaizen, standard work, visual management, and structured problem-solving.
  • A track record of delivering measurable, sustained business results through transformation across safety, quality, delivery, throughput, yield, cycle time, cost, or client performance.
  • Deep command of structured problem-solving and root-cause methodology applied to real process problems, with the credibility to coach operators and influence senior leaders.
  • Ability to work in a Gemba-based role with substantial on-site presence, approximately 50–60%, including extended periods embedded at a site.
  • Ability to travel significantly to BioVectra sites in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia and across the broader Advanced Therapeutics Division footprint as deployment phases require.
Responsibilities
  • Own the production system build across the full value stream at the assigned site or campaigns, from incoming materials through release-readiness.
  • Begin each deployment with a structured rapid diagnostic using direct observation, operator interviews, and quantitative evidence, and translate findings into a sequenced deployment roadmap agreed with site operations and quality leadership.
  • Build and sustain tiered daily management from Tier 1 through Tier 4, leader standard work, visual performance management, Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost boards, KPI ownership, and structured escalation.
  • Own and run the kaizen funnel by prioritizing, chartering, and leading kaizen events and workshops that close KPI gaps in titer and yield stability, fermentation reproducibility, downstream recovery and purification yield, right-first-time execution, changeover through SMED, and the manufacturing-to-quality handoff.
  • Translate site and business objectives into floor-level priorities through strategy deployment with defined ownership, milestones, countermeasures, and benefits realization.
  • Connect operational performance to throughput and sellable capacity, on-time-in-full client commitments, release cycle time, right-first-time performance, inventory, working capital, and cost.
  • Build and maintain a transformation scorecard as the single source of truth for KPI performance, value capture, and countermeasure tracking.
  • Use manufacturing execution systems, electronic batch records, shop-floor data systems, and analytics to feed daily management and surface process abnormalities in real time.
  • Identify where digital and artificial intelligence tools can support daily work as enablers of the production system.
  • Lead and mentor structured problem-solving using A3 and PSP at the Gemba, driving teams through root-cause analysis.
  • Lead value stream mapping across the batch lifecycle, including transactional and quality flows, batch-record review, deviation handling, and client response, then install daily management and standard work to level work and shorten time to release.
  • Partner with Quality to support operating-system elements of the release maturity roadmap, including movement toward parametric release and real-time release testing where supported by process knowledge, client alignment, and the regulatory pathway.
  • Coach and develop supervisors, operators, and emerging practitioners in standard work, daily management, structured problem-solving, and Lean fundamentals, and build certified practitioners at all levels.
  • Own the production-system method at the site by embedding standardized ways of working, governance routines, and accountability mechanisms that deliver durable results beyond individual kaizen events.
  • Anchor the BioVectra deployment through build and stabilization, embedding daily management and standard work so they hold as the system matures.
  • Contribute to benchmarking and best-practice sharing across the North American Advanced Therapeutics Division footprint.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least 10 years of experience in a GMP or comparably regulated or complex production environment.
  • Experience in a contract development and manufacturing organization or contract manufacturing environment.
  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or the Toyota Production System, or status as a Danaher Business System Certified Practitioner or Advanced Certified Practitioner.

Agilent launches Cary 635 FTIR spectrometer for compact, high-performance lab analysis

Agilent Technologies has launched the Cary 635 FTIR spectrometer, described as the smallest Fourier transform infrared analyser in its class. The compact instrument combines high-performance analysis with user-friendly operation, requiring minimal technical training. The spectrometer features solid ZnSe optical components for enhanced moisture resistance and improved sensitivity for analysing lower-concentration samples. Its modular architecture supports analysis of solids, liquids, powders, and gases, whilst permanently aligned optics enable rapid interchange of sampling modules. The device includes MicroLab software with step-by-step workflows and colour-coded results, allowing novice users to be trained quickly. Agilent generated $6.95 billion in revenue during fiscal year 2025 and employs approximately 18,000 people worldwide.

Agilent expands non-GAAP margin 320 bps, but 110 bps came from tariff refunds

Agilent Technologies reported fiscal third-quarter revenue of $1.88 billion, up 8.1% year-over-year. Core revenue, excluding currency movements and M&A activity, grew 7.3%. The company's non-GAAP operating margin reached 28.3%, expanding 320 basis points. However, roughly 110 basis points of that improvement stemmed from tariff refunds, which also added $17 million to non-GAAP net income and approximately $0.06 to earnings per share. Excluding the refunds, operating margin expansion was approximately 210 basis points, supported by higher revenue and operational efficiencies. All three business segments reported revenue growth, with Life Sciences and Diagnostics Markets Group up 11%, CrossLab up 6%, and Applied Markets up 7%. For the full year, Agilent expects non-GAAP operating margin expansion of more than 130 basis points, including roughly 30 basis points from the tariff refunds.
