Requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years of Fire & Gas experience in the Oil and Gas field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working on the North Slope of Alaska.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in fire and gas upgrade projects.
  • Skilled in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning Fire and Gas equipment in both new and retrofit applications.
  • Experience in designing and commissioning newer generation F&G detection technologies (i.e., Infrared gas, smoke detection, and optical flame detection).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and construction packages.
  • Working knowledge of communication and automation systems.
  • Thorough understanding of hazardous area installations and applicable industry codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, AAC).
  • Proven ability to lead teams, evaluate performance, and ensure safe, high-quality project delivery.
  • Experience coordinating with internal and external engineering/design groups.
  • Ability to manage schedules, costs, and deliverables effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey technical information.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across departments, contractors, vendors, and regulatory officials.
  • Self-starter, strong leadership presence, team player, and calm under pressure.
  • Willingness to take direction, work independently, or lead when needed.
  • Reliable and punctual; adheres to assigned work schedules and attendance expectations.
  • Available for 24/7 on-call support as needed.
  • Able to work in extreme arctic environments, at heights, below grade, and from ladders, scaffolds, or manlifts.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in field walkdowns to optimize system design, layout, and maintenance access.
  • Provide design input to ensure consistency, code compliance, and high-quality deliverables.
  • Review design packages at both IFR and IFC stages for accuracy, completeness, and integration with existing systems.
  • Oversee design and construction teams to ensure adherence to codes, standards, and consistency across all field installations.
  • Manage project schedules and costs, track progress against milestones, and communicate updates to all stakeholders.
  • Track and manage material deliveries to ensure availability at project start.
  • Provide visible leadership and coordination between project teams, facility personnel, and contractors, with a strong emphasis on safety and compliance.
  • Ensure required Management of Change (MOC) documentation is initiated and completed appropriately.
  • Make frequent field visits to engage with operations and maintenance crews and provide real-time support and leadership.
  • Proactively engage with operations personnel to identify and pursue opportunities to add value—without waiting for direction.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce project costs, improve quality, and enhance safety.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable drawings, specifications, codes, and regulations; escalate and seek expertise when needed.
  • Ensure panels being built by Hilcorp’s UL shop meet quality standards.
  • Develop S3 programs for Det-Tronics EQP panels.
  • Coordinate HMI updates with Automation.
  • Lead FCO effort ensuring systems are 100% functional prior to the cutover.
  • Develop and execute cutover plans for each job.
  • Provide training to operations after project completion.
  • Develop all maintenance documents (Matrices, Procedure, Tech Notes, PM Checklist).
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks as needed, in addition to lead technician responsibilities.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by Foreman.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects corporate assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
Desired Qualifications
  • Mastery of electrical testing and calibration equipment (e.g., volt-ohm meters, thermocouple calibrators, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and specialized OEM tools).
  • Advanced ability to interpret technical codes, manuals, and complex electrical documentation.
  • Demonstrated capability in troubleshooting motors control circuits, and a range of industrial electrical devices.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in the use and application of the Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) as well as PowerBI.
