Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus additional specialized training.
  • Must have a current CNA/NAR/HCA license in good standing.
  • For Med Techs/Medication Managers, must be certified as a Med Tech, Medication Aide, or Medication Manager and have the requisite state/local training certificate.
  • Must have current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak sufficiently in English to complete the position's responsibilities.
  • Must complete a background check and drug test; may also be required to complete other pre-employment tasks such as fingerprinting, a physical, and a TB test as required by state/local guidelines.
Responsibilities
  • Read, understand, and follow residents' individually designed activities of daily living directives.
  • Make accurate daily chart notes on residents' conditions, chart on flow sheets, and report any changes to a supervisor.
  • Assist residents with toileting, oral hygiene, bathing, grooming, nail clipping, and dressing.
  • Assist in serving meals, and lead and attend activities.
  • Remain current with changes regarding residents and department operations, and check schedules and activities to assist residents as necessary.
  • Assist in residents' admission and discharge.
  • Record vital signs and conditions on a scheduled basis or as needed.
  • Provide verbal and physical assistance to residents with transfers and ambulation.
  • Answer lights and other calls for assistance promptly, and report possible safety hazards.
  • Maintain neat and clean work areas.
  • Keep resident rooms in order and provide a comfortable, clean, and safe environment; dress residents as conditions require.
  • Ensure assigned residents have the opportunity to participate in social, physical, creative, and spiritual activities of their choice.
  • Provide residents with their daily medications in accordance with guidance from their prescribing clinicians, for staff serving as Medication Techs/Aides/Managers.
