Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, behavioral/social sciences, or clinical sciences or a related field.
  • Two years of job related experience in health education or health programming.
  • Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Knowledge of public health program management principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of public health interventions and quality improvement.
  • General knowledge of federal and state laws related to grants and contracts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including public speaking.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to research, develop, and implement public health interventions.
Responsibilities
  • The Program Specialist assists in administering the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) in line with program grant and regulatory requirements.
  • The Program Specialist position coordinates with and oversees WIC vendor activities.
  • This position serves as a liaison for the State WIC Program regarding authorization of WIC retailers.
  • Providing technical assistance regarding WIC transactions.
  • Perform on-site visits and pre-authorization inspections at WIC vendors.
  • Process program complaints.
  • Work with Nutrition Services to support program integrity.
  • Review and monitor WIC redemption data.
