About the job

Requirements
  • Hands-on security controls experience assessing control design and operating effectiveness, and redesigning controls to improve practical performance rather than solely providing attestation or testing-based assurance.
  • Experience developing policies and procedures using internationally recognized IT management methodologies in domains related to Software Engineering and IT Technology.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise technology concepts, including cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP), identity and access management, microservices, APIs, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, databases, logging and monitoring tooling, and modern software engineering practices.
  • Deep knowledge of industry-standard security, technology risk, and control frameworks, including NIST SP 800-53, NIST CSF, ISO 27001, COBIT, CSA CCM, CIS Controls, and ITIL.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in security controls, technology risk management, cybersecurity, software engineering, cloud security, IT auditing, or a first/1.5-line risk and control function within financial services or a major technology company.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to present complex technical risks clearly to senior stakeholders, and a strong delivery focus in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related quantitative discipline.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee first-line security risks and controls, identify weaknesses, recommend improvements, and educate control program owners on risk posture across engineering products, including initiatives leveraging traditional AI, generative AI, and agentic AI.
  • Develop, implement, and enhance the control management framework, processes, standards, and guidelines, including defining effective control design and execution for ongoing security control management across systems and infrastructure.
  • Improve the design and execution of existing security controls by reducing noise, rationalizing duplicative or low-value controls, tuning thresholds and false positives, removing unnecessary manual steps, and automating control execution and evidence capture.
  • Partner transparently and collaboratively with control-, process-, and risk-owning teams, serving as the subject matter expert on security control design and operation.
  • Assess and review technology and security policies, standards, and control changes for comprehensive risk management and alignment with regulatory and industry standards.
  • Review and evaluate security control designs across engineering systems, applications, and infrastructure, including control configuration and operation, to ensure risk mitigation and compliance with industry standards.
  • Execute and maintain an integrated, risk-aligned security control environment, mapping engineering systems, applications, and infrastructure controls to the firm's risk taxonomy and business objectives.
  • Establish and manage operational oversight mechanisms, including key risk indicators, control health metrics, and continuous monitoring, to proactively manage and mitigate technology and security risks.
  • Translate complex control implementation and risk mitigation strategies into clear, non-technical business terms for senior leadership and key stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications
  • Relevant professional certifications such as CISA, CISM, CRISC, CISSP, or CCSP are highly desirable.

About the company

Goldman Sachs advises companies and governments on mergers, raises money for them by selling their stocks and bonds, and trades securities for big investors such as hedge funds and pension funds. It led Ford Motor's 1956 stock market debut, then the largest share sale in US history. Traders buy and sell stocks, bonds, currencies, and commodities for clients and lend them money, while bankers earn a fee on each deal they advise on or arrange. Its asset and wealth management arm invests for institutions and wealthy families and charges fees based on the money it oversees. The firm was founded in 1869, when it began brokering short-term IOUs for New York merchants, and it is based in New York City.

What believers are saying

  • Trading drives the boom: stock-trading revenue hit a record $7.42 billion in the June 2026 quarter, up 72%.
  • Pay is climbing: compensation rose 20% to $11.5 billion in the first half of 2026, while staff grew 1%.
  • A Goldman stint opens doors: alumni Rishi Sunak, Mario Draghi and Mark Carney rose to lead Britain, Italy and Canada.

What critics are saying

  • AI is costing jobs: Goldman's October 2025 AI plan came with a "limited reduction in roles" and slower hiring.
  • Expect five office days a week: Goldman reaffirmed the rule in 2023, and its CEO calls remote work an aberration.
  • Stock awards have lost value: shares fell 23% from July 15 to October 8, 2026, versus 18% at Morgan Stanley.

What makes Goldman Sachs unique

  • Traders outearn Goldman's famous merger advisers: trading made 57% of first-half 2026 revenue, versus 8% from advice.
  • Goldman is Wall Street's top merger adviser: it earned $4.6 billion advising on 2025 deals, versus JPMorgan's $3.1 billion.
  • The top prize is still partner: though public since 1999, Goldman named just 95 partners from 46,000-plus staff in 2024.

Goldman upgrades CoreWeave to Buy with $106 target despite 56% share slump

Goldman Sachs upgraded CoreWeave from Neutral to Buy on October 19, 2026, even as it cut its 12-month price target from $139 to $106. The new target implies a gain of about 73% from the October 16 close of $61.39. CoreWeave shares have lost nearly half their value since August, partly because yields on its 2031 and 2032 bonds climbed to around 15%. Analyst Gabriela Borges argues investors have overestimated the effect of future borrowing and underestimated the profit from new data center contracts. CoreWeave rents Nvidia chips to firms such as Meta and OpenAI. It had locked in about $104 billion in future revenue by the end of the second quarter, but posted a $626 million net loss that quarter. Ark Invest bought about $25.8 million of the stock in mid-October.

Tokenized stock trading surges overseas to $11.31B on Robinhood Chain as Goldman, Microsoft object in US

Tokenized stock trading is growing overseas while major US companies resist it at home, according to Bitwise Asset Management's latest quarterly report. On Robinhood Chain, tokenized stock volume rose from $526 million in July to $2.21 billion in August, then to $11.31 billion in September. Tokenized equities were also the fastest-growing category on Solana. Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Caterpillar, McDonald's, Western Digital, and Alphabet have objected to tokenized versions of their shares trading on OKXICE, a venue launched by crypto exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange. Sixteen companies have now objected. The US Securities and Exchange Commission's innovation exemption lets companies opt out. OKXICE co-chairman Andrew Cuomo said many companies would "wait and see" before taking part.

Goldman Sachs vs Bank of America: why the investment bank is the better 2026 buy

Bank of America and Goldman Sachs offer two ways to bet on financials in 2026: steady retail banking or market-driven investment banking. A Motley Fool writer favours Goldman, which has beaten both Bank of America and the S&P 500. In fiscal 2025, Bank of America's revenue fell about 0.5% to nearly $191.6 billion, with net income of nearly $30.5 billion. Goldman's revenue fell 1.4% to about $125.1 billion, with net income of close to $17.2 billion. Goldman's debt-to-equity ratio is roughly 4.9, against nearly 1.2 at Bank of America. Goldman's free cash flow was negative $47.2 billion; Bank of America's was nearly $12.6 billion. Bank of America looks cheaper on forward P/E and P/S ratios. It also faced a $1.2 billion regulatory charge in 2026, while Goldman reached a $500 million shareholder litigation settlement.
