About the Job

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline is required.
  • Extensive experience in mechanical, mechatronics, or electromechanical systems engineering, with a strong background in thermal systems design, including refrigeration and heater systems.
  • Experience with precision mechanical design for thermal systems, including tolerance stack-up, materials selection, and sealing for thermal cycling.
  • Proficiency with mechanical computer-aided design tools such as Creo, ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and design for excellence/design failure mode and effects analysis.
  • Expertise in sub-ambient refrigeration, including vapor-compression cycle design, low-global-warming-potential refrigerants, and electronic expansion valve control.
  • Experience specifying thermal-loop control behavior clearly enough for firmware implementation and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Own mechanical and thermal design for new temperature-calibration products, including baths, dry-wells, furnaces, and metrology standards such as SPRT/PRT and fixed-point cells.
  • Apply refrigeration and heater-system design across the full range of temperature-calibration products.
  • Lead sustaining programs that support the factory, including component end-of-life mitigation, quality improvement, and yield improvement.
  • Bridge mechanical, electrical, embedded software, and metrology disciplines on shared problems.
  • Translate metrology requirements, including uncertainty and stability, into mechanical constraints, and translate mechanical constraints back into metrology terms.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with thermal finite element analysis simulation, computational fluid dynamics for convection, radiative heat transfer, and gradient/uniformity characterization.
  • Experience sustaining test, measurement, or calibration products with long service lifetimes.
  • Ability to lead technical direction across disciplines without direct managerial authority.
  • Familiarity with global compliance standards, including CE, FCC, RoHS, and IEC 61010.
  • Metrology fluency, including ITS-90, uncertainty budgeting, and sensor behavior, sufficient to avoid mechanical decisions that corrupt measurement.
  • Experience with manufacturing scale-up, factory transitions, or supply chain strategy.
