Requirements
  • Post-graduation from a Respiratory Care program.
  • A high school diploma or GED and graduation from an American Medical Association-approved Respiratory Care Program with an associate-level credential are required.
  • A current New Jersey State Respiratory Care Board license is required.
  • Valid Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certifications are required.
Responsibilities
  • Assess patients and monitor mechanical ventilatory support.
  • Provide non-invasive ventilation support and administer medical gas delivery systems, including heliox, nitric oxide, oxygen, and compressed air.
  • Provide humidification, aerosol therapy, airway management, aerosolized and instilled medications, chest physical therapy, vest therapy, intrapulmonary percussive ventilation, and mechanical insufflation-exsufflation therapy.
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, arterial blood gas acquisition and analysis, transcutaneous carbon dioxide and oxygen monitoring, pulse oximetry monitoring and trending, ventilatory weaning, and peak flow monitoring.
  • Assist with bedside tracheostomies and bronchoscopies.
  • Transport patients internally and externally.
  • Educate patients and families.
Desired Qualifications
  • One to two years of pediatric and adult critical care experience is preferred.
