About the job
- At least two years of TIG (GTAW) welding experience.
- At least one year of basic blueprint-reading experience.
- Basic math skills.
- Experience with precision TIG welding in a machine setup.
- Experience using protractor tools.
- Ability to meet project requirements through manual fabrication while maintaining angular tolerances of ±0.5%, focal lengths, and target points of ±0.010.
- Ability to use argon gas and TIG welding procedures to connect metal components.
- Ability to position and clamp metal components for welding.
- Ability to perform fusion, fillet, and full-penetration butt welds.
- Knowledge of proper weld settings for various materials and filler-rod selection.
- Ability to produce vacuum-tight welds in hard-to-reach chamber areas.
- Ability to identify the proper order of operations, including the main datum point and sequence of hole penetration.
- Ability to pay close attention to blueprint details.
- Ability to solve practical problems and handle concrete variables where standardization is limited.
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule instructions.
- Ability to take direction from a supervisor.
- Ability to focus attention on details.
- Precisely TIG weld and fabricate custom chambers and/or components using customer-supplied drawings and/or blueprints while holding tolerances of ±0.010 and/or 0.5% angular.
- Perform manual fabrication such as port alignment, scribing, cutting/copying, tacking, tuning, and welding while maintaining angular tolerances of ±0.5%, focal lengths, and target points of ±0.010.
- Collaborate closely with machinists throughout each phase of the manufacturing process.
- Vacuum welding experience is a significant plus.
